5 possible rewards for winning WWE’s Greatest Royal Rumble

The Greatest Royal Rumble is coming
The Greatest Royal Rumble is coming

We’ve seen some crazy things go down over the last few years in WWE, with the company breaking new ground with many of their business decisions both in and outside of the ring. On April 27th, however, we’re set to see something that very few people could’ve anticipated would ever be a realistic possibility.

WWE will be heading to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in order to host their first ever 50-man Royal Rumble match. The event will take place inside a 60,000-seater stadium, which will serve as a prequel to the rumoured blockbuster event that’ll be taking place in Australia later this year.

The possibilities are endless with this match as many top names have already been confirmed to appear, but instead of speculating who may or may not take part in the match, we’d like to propose a few ideas for what the winning participant will receive.

With that being said, here are five possible rewards for winning WWE’s Greatest Royal Rumble.

#1 SummerSlam title match

The biggest party of the summer

By the time WWE’s Greatest Royal Rumble rolls around next month, WrestleMania 34 would’ve been and gone. New storylines will have been created, and the road to this year’s SummerSlam will begin. As we all know the show is the second biggest event on WWE’s calendar, and it’s time to start treating it that way.

If you give someone a potential title bout on this card, it’d allow for three months of interesting build up. It’d be as if they’ve won a Money in the Bank contract, but can’t cash it in – and they don’t even have to reveal which champion they’re going to face until around four to six weeks before the show. It’d be interesting and different, and it could work wonders for the prestige of SummerSlam.

#2 Raw/SD Live title match

This could be fun
Chance of a lifetime

SS feel big, this would force WWE to host a big-time edition of either Raw or SmackDown Live. With both brands being scheduled to appear on every single pay per view together this year, there’s bound to be less PPV events – meaning that we need to make certain editions of WWE television feel even more special.

Whether it be a blue brand or red brand superstar who wins, it doesn’t matter, because they’ll have the chance to compete for a championship of their choosing. If you build this up in the correct manner, then you could wind up with some of the biggest ratings that either show has seen in the last few years.

That’s obviously not a guarantee, but it’s still worth a shot.

#3 WrestleMania security

While WrestleMania 35 is still well over a year away, and we don’t even have confirmation of the host city, it’s still worth thinking about. After all, 35 is a notable landmark, and with all signs pointing towards MetLife Stadium being the venue for the event, you just know that WWE is going to ensure that it sells out.

An interesting tactic they could use would be to award the winner of the GRR with a guaranteed spot on the WrestleMania card. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a world title match like the normal Royal Rumble would be, and the incentive could be that they have to keep consistently performing throughout the year in order to determine just how much of a ‘high profile’ match they receive.

#4 The Golden ticket

This could be interesting

This one is very simple, but it could also be very interesting. For years now we’ve seen things like the Money in the Bank ladder match redefine what it means to create ‘shocking’ moments in professional wrestling, but when it comes to the golden ticket, there are certain things you can and cannot do – which makes it all the more interesting.

The one stipulation for the ticket is that you have to cash it in immediately after winning the match, but aside from that, it’s no holds barred: and you’ll have three specific options to choose from. You can either choose to be general manager for a day, you could choose to fire another member of the roster (excluding champions), or you could select the number 30 spot in January’s official Royal Rumble match.

#5 Insurance policy

A valuable asset

You could argue that this is the most valuable potential reward of them all, and not too many people would argue with you. Essentially, after you’ve won WWE’s Greatest Royal Rumble, you officially become the holder of the ‘Insurance Policy’. This means that for up to one year, you are able to be granted one favour by Vince McMahon and Triple H, aka the guys running the show behind the scenes.

That favour can be quite literally anything you desire, and it would open the door to some truly fascinating possibilities. Some would argue that this mimics the MITB concept, but it’s entirely dependant on what the person who wins decides that they want.

Whatever happens on April 27th, gear up for some interesting storylines moving forward – well, we hope.
