A few days ago, this dream match was on our wishlist. All of a sudden, there was a major illness scare across the RAW roster, and this match became a reality. No longer will The Demon King take on Sister Abigail at WWE TLC. Instead, it will be AJ Styles taking on Finn Balor, in a battle of the heads of the Bullet Club.
One glance at this match, and we know that this contest can easily steal the show if both men are given enough time. Both Finn Balor and AJ Styles are incredible workers. Both of them are lightning quick, great storytellers and are maestros in the squared circle.
What concerns us in this article is how this match could possibly conclude at WWE TLC. Of course, in an ideal world, there would be a clean finish and, yes, that may yet happen. However, this feature aims to delve into the many possibilities that may arise during this epic clash.
So fasten your seatbelts and sit tight as we examine the various possibilities with regard to the finish of this major, massive encounter.
#5 AJ Styles wins clean
AJ Styles and Jinder Mahal are set to clash for the WWE Championship, from the looks of it. It is unclear when the match will be, as it is likely to not happen at Survivor Series. Mahal and Lesnar are likely to clash then. In any case, Styles would want momentum heading into the big match.
What better way to stake his claim than to defeat the Demon? AJ Styles is such a great worker that he can even protect Balor and make him look strong in defeat. This could initiate a series of matches that could continue when either man eventually switches brands.
As popular as Balor is, we imagine that the crowd will be behind Styles all through. Imagine the kind of pop he will receive if he wins the big match with a Phenomenal Forearm.
They could have a rematch at Survivor Series, next month, as it is likely to be a brand vs. brand affair.
#4 Samoa Joe costs Balor the match
Now that Lesnar is seemingly facing Mahal at Survivor Series, Finn Balor really has no opponents going forward. As confirmed by various sources over the past few weeks, we know that the 38-year-old Samoais due for a return very soon indeed. It wouldn't surprise us at all if Joe were to interfere in this match and cost Balor the big win.
Bear in mind that Joe and Balor had one of the best rivalries in NXT history. The two men faced each other on multiple occasions. Joe is also the only man to have defeated the 'Demon' avatar of Finn Balor inside a steel cage, at an NXT Takeover special.
Of course, he wouldn't be helping Styles out. He'd be taking his frustrations out on Balor instead. This could set up a long-term program between the two fantastic performers.
Of course, there might be interference from two other men as well.
#3 The Club costs AJ Styles the match
Once upon a time, The Club and AJ Styles were an inseparable unit. However, with the Superstar Shake-up, the trio went their separate ways and things are very different now.
Bear in mind that Finn Balor was the founder of the Bullet Club. There is the potential for a huge heel turn, if Balor were to align himself with The Club. Together, the three men would pose a serious threat to The Shield, who may need new opponents going forward.
It is unlikely that The Club will align themselves with AJ Styles. That would be far too predictable, and would leave fans with a bitter taste in their mouth, considering that they want this match to be a 5-star wrestling clinic.
It is all too likely that The Club will interfere in this match and cost AJ Styles the win. Together, the Balor Club would be formed on television.
#2 Jinder Mahal costs AJ Styles the match
This week on SmackDown Live, we saw Styles lay the smackdown on WWE Champion Jinder Mahal. We know that the Maharaja does not often forgive such slights, however small. He may interfere in this match and cost AJ the win, furthering their own program.
His interference will build a lot of heat going into their own encounter, somewhere down the line. Some may argue that, unlike this clash, that one is far more important, as it will be for the WWE Championship.
Most people will want a clean finish for a clash between two incredible workers like AJ Styles and Balor, and we predict that it could be a rather likely outcome indeed.
#1 The Demon reigns supreme
The Demon King may be the most protected character in WWE today, not named Lesnar. It's a rare sight to see Balor lose a match when he is painted as the Demon King. There's very little chance that he will lose the match at TLC. Especially as it's a RAW pay-per-view.
Had Balor chosen to not wrestle as The Demon, there may have been an opportunity for Styles to emerge as the eventual victor. However, in this case, Balor clearly has the upper hand by far. Having Styles beat The Demon would be extremely bad booking.
