Tye Dillinger is a hot prospect for WWE and was trained by fellow wrestler Eric Young. He would work in NXT before being promoted. At the Royal Rumble in 2017, Dillinger made a shock entrance. His performance was stellar until being eliminated by Braun Strowman. He currently performs on the SmackDown Live brand.
On SmackDown Live Dillinger has been used sparingly. Whether intentional or not, it is questionable. He has immense talent in the ring and on the microphone. Moreover, his recent match against Shinsuke Nakamura cemented his credibility, see the video below.
Dillinger challenging Jeff Hardy would be an excellent entry into championship success. Of course, they have never competed before. Therefore, their showdown could be epic. With Dillinger's solid ring credentials and popularity, he could pose a threat and provide a decent challenge for Hardy.
