Rusev was once a powerlifter and a rower. However, on May 30th, 2013, Rusev made his impactful debut on NXT television. Working in NXT until 2014, he would then progress to the main roster. At Royal Rumble 2014 Rusev would enter the match at number six.

Since 2014 Rusev has dominated on Raw and SmackDown Live. He has been United States champion twice and has become immensely popular. At present Rusev's popularity is soaring. Every week Rusev and Aiden English received immense cheers. Together they have created Rusev Day. It is impossible to watch an event without seeing their merchandise.

In previous months AJ Styles and Rusev have competed in excellent matches, see the video. However, the WWE Championship almost seems to elude Rusev. His popularity is insane and deserves recognition. Therefore, it could benefit him to gain once last United States championship to improve his credibility. Moreover, Jeff Hardy would be an excellent opponent.
WWE needs to make this happen.
