5 potential teams for WWE's women's tag team division

Who could hold the titles?
Who could hold the titles?

The women's revolution has been ongoing for a few years now, and we're at the point where it's safe to say that the future of women's wrestling is in safe hands. There are so many high-quality performers on Raw, SmackDown Live, NXT and even on the independent scene right now, and things are only going to get better as the weeks, months and years go on.

One idea, in particular, that has been thrown around as a possible way of taking things to the next level is to introduce a tag team division. While these rumors have been ongoing for quite some time now, there have been no real confirmations regarding how it would work - but in our mind, the titles would have to be defended across both Raw and SmackDown Live or else it just wouldn't be feasible.

So with that in mind, here are our five picks for potential teams who could enter WWE's women's tag team division.

#1 Becky Lynch & Charlotte

Could the best friends reach the top together?
Could the best friends reach the top together?

While Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair have had their differences over the last few years, nobody can deny that they're great friends both on and off camera. Even in the aftermath of their feud, it was clear to see they were best buds via social media, and if WWE wants to use their friendship for positive reasons, they could have them go after the tag team titles.

It'd give Becky some purpose after months of floundering in the mid-card, whereas Charlotte can divert her attention away from the SD Live Women's Championship picture for a while. It'd give Carmella a chance to carry the belt for a few months, and given Flair and Lynch's popularity, it'd draw a great deal of attention to the division even in its infancy.

#2 Natalya and Ronda Rousey

While some of her segments on Monday Night Raw have been questionable thus far, there's no denying that Natalya's switch from SmackDown Live was the best move for her career. Now, she can work alongside Ronda Rousey in a feud that will undoubtedly help both women to enhance their careers prior to their likely singles match somewhere down the line.

Ronda proved herself to be a formidable in-ring competitor at WrestleMania, but it's still smart to keep her in tag team matches for the time being. With Natalya by her side the duo could be virtually unstoppable, and while they may work better as heels, they're just as effective as babyfaces given the fact that Rousey is still getting pretty solid reactions from the audience.

#3 The Bella Twins

The Bellas would surely be the frontrunners

It's no secret that Nikki & Brie want to return to the squared circle, and while a lot of fans may not be in favor of that idea, it would definitely be best for business. The sisters have been able to bring a whole new set of eyes to the WWE product courtesy of Total Divas and Total Bellas, and while they may not be in-ring generals, they're more than capable of putting on good matches.

It'd almost feel like the titles were hand-made for them, and to be honest, you could even work that idea into their eventual storyline. They should definitely be introduced as heels because that's where they both tend to thrive, as shown in the 2018 Women's Royal Rumble Match. The WWE Universe may not like it, but The Bella Twins would be serious title contenders.

#4 LayCool

Flawless
Flawless

If you've been watching wrestling long enough to remember LayCool, then consider yourself lucky. Layla & Michelle McCool were extremely irritating during their run together in the best possible way, and their time as co-champions was bizarre yet entertaining. While neither competes on a regular basis anymore, McCool did return at the Rumble and made quite an impression in doing so.

They'd be perfect contenders in this modern era, as they could return and claim that they were the ones who started the initial women's revolution back in 2010. You'd have to get current fans up to speed with who they are because they deserve to be recognized for their talents - as opposed to McCool just being dubbed as 'Taker's wife'.

#5 The IIconics

Kay & Royce have made quite an impression
Royce & Kay have made quite an impression

Peyton Royce and Billie Kay are just great. Ever since they were paired together down in NXT they've been so much fun to watch, with their whiny 'mean girls' persona feeling like an upgrade from The Bella Twins for many fans. Of course, The Bellas themselves would likely be offended by that, with Nikki herself even suggesting that a future match could be on the cards.

These two would almost certainly hold onto the belts at one point or another, and rightly so, given their overwhelming chemistry and phenomenal character work. In addition to that, they're solid wrestlers, and you can just tell how fantastically annoying they'd be with the championships around their waists.
