The Bulgarian Brute came up to WWE's main roster in 2014, with Lana acting as his manager. After being in a relationship for a while, which stemmed due to them being close while in NXT, Rusev and Lana got married in July 2016. Rusev popularized the gimmick of Rusev Day on SmackDown, back in 2017-18. Fans were chanting Rusev Day every week, and many believed that he was about to get a huge push. Nothing of this sort happened and Rusev Day soon faded into obscurity.

Rusev, Lana, and Bobby Lashley were involved in a love triangle storyline last year, which carried on to 2020, and ended with Lashley getting the upper hand. Rusev was absent from WWE TV for the final few weeks of his stint and was among the ones released by WWE as a part of budget cuts. Earlier this year, Rusev edited his Twitter bio and mentioned that he was soon going to be a free agent.
Lana is currently still involved with Lashley on-screen, while Rusev is currently enjoying his new hobby of playing games and chatting with fans on Twitch. He has previously said that he is frustrated due to things remaining the same even though he keeps trying his best. Rusev also said that pitching idea to Vince McMahon didn't bear any results. All of these things might convince him to never sign with WWE again, and we will probably not get to see this real-life couple share screen-time on WWE TV in the future.

Given the opportunity to script WWE’s next big storyline, Abhilash would treat fans to the second installment of The Bloodline Civil War. He would book Roman Reigns to re-form The Bloodline with The Usos and Sami Zayn upon his comeback. The angle would see The Tribal Chief-led group go head-to-head with The Rock, Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Jacob Fatu in a blockbuster family feud.
