What prompted this sudden attack on the two WrestleMania contenders?

Elimination Chamber was a great show. I will have a 'Best and Worst' article up as soon as I can, chronicling the good and the bad from this pay-per-view. But there's one story that I must cover first. And it concerns Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey, the RAW Women's Champion.

More specifically it deals with what happened between the three of them at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. While Kingston, Bryan, Banks and Bayley stole the show, these three women had an interesting cameo. As they should, because they'll likely be in the main event at WrestleMania 35.

So why did Becky Lynch attack Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair with crutches? I'll give you 5 reasons in this very article.

I would also like to hear your thoughts and opinions about this.

#5 The actual match was way too short

Ronda Rousey squashed Ruby Riott in no time at all. And there was a big chance of the crowd rioting because they had been robbed of what should have been a very even contest. We all know that the 'smart fans' know how good Riott is and wanted her to be given a fair shake.

And this is why something else needed to happen, to have the crowd not rebel against this match. Bear in mind that these three women will be in the main event of WrestleMania. Had the crowd turned on Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair and started booing, there would have been a big chance of people not caring about a women's match in the main event spot.

When Becky Lynch made her way to the arena, hobbling with crutches, the RAW Women's title match was forgotten. All that existed in the ring were these three WWE superstars.

#4 To play on Lynch's 'injury'

The announcers made mention of this when they were calling the match. At a Live Event in Louisiana, Becky Lynch tried to attack Charlotte Flair even though she was suspended. Flair would retaliate and assault Becky Lynch's knee in the process.

By having her hobble to the ring, WWE sold the fact that Becky Lynch is still injured and can still take out two women even when she is. The injury is obviously a big part of the storyline and has been from the very start, considering that Becky Lynch would not see doctors, leading to the mess she's in right now. It is clear that her injury will keep her away from the ring for a while.

And this is great because there's a big chance that Becky Lynch will be a part of the WrestleMania 35 main event. By having her kayfabe injured, WWE minimises the chance of a legitimate injury.

#3 To give Flair and Rousey a rest as well

So many superstars are on the shelf right now, battling injuries. Be it Kevin Owens or Seth Rollins or Sami Zayn or Jason Jordan or even Roman Reigns, WWE has lost a lot of its stars on the road to WrestleMania.

The company cannot afford to have more superstars contract the injury bug and miss the 'grandest show of them all'. This angle is the perfect smokescreen to have Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey get a chance to rest and recover before the big show happens.

Not long ago, Vince McMahon blamed all the low ratings that WWE has seen in the recent months to the fact that so many top superstars are currently on the mend right now. And if there's a sense of paranoia backstage, he will not want to risk his top stars getting hurt.

Flair and Rousey can sit out for a few weeks, to sell these injuries.

#2 To prove that Lynch doesn't care about suspensions

We know that Becky Lynch has been suspended for a duration that doesn't let her compete at WrestleMania 35. But she doesn't pay heed to this suspension, much like her predecessor Stone Cold Steve Austin did. Much like Stone Cold Steve Austin did in a beer truck, she crashed this party through the crowd.

This was a great character development ploy for Lynch. It showcased her as an individual that did not care for the rules and especially would not be cowed down by Vince McMahon. It gave the crowd in attendance a chance to erupt and support a superstar who doesn't play by the rules, even after the product has gone PG.

What do you think of Becky Lynch and the Stone Cold comparisons that everyone seems to be making these days, between the two WWE superstars? Do you think she deserves them?

#1 As a hook for RAW

Ronda Rousey has been the biggest signing in WWE, in the last few years. Similarly, Charlotte Flair, in real life as in storyline is the golden girl for WWE. The company values both of them and in kayfabe, will not stand for this! Vince McMahon and co. will be forced to take actions against Becky Lynch on RAW.

This could, of course, result in her in getting fired from WWE. The lead up to Fastlane will involve her trying her best to get reinstated. She's almost certain to be part of the WrestleMania main event.

But now, we have a reason to tune in to RAW the following night and catch the fallout of the events that transpired at Elimination Chamber. Let's hope that the show lives up to the hype created by Elimination Chamber.
