5 reasons why Brock Lesnar could cash his Money In The Bank contract for Kofi Kingston’s WWE Championship

The Money In The Bank PPV ended with a somewhat sour taste in the mouth as Brock Lesnar entered as the 8th contestant of the Money In The Bank Ladder Match right at the end of the match.

Lesnar simply came, ran towards the ring and threw Ali off the ladder to unhook the Money in the Bank contract and grab it. As a result, Lesnar is now guaranteed a shot at a major title at any time and at any place.

Right now, most people are expecting him to cash in his contract against Seth Rollins for the WWE Universal Championship. And it is only logical to think that. After all, Seth Rollins used dark means to take the Universal Title off Lesnar and the Beast could easily come back for revenge.

However, it might not be the case as Lesnar could shock everyone and cash in the contract against Kofi Kingston for the WWE Championship. And here are 5 reasons why…

#5 Rollins-Styles is far from over

The match between Seth Rollins and AJ Styles had been one of the most anticipated encounters in the WWE. Ever since the Phenomenal One was drafted to the red brand, fans were expecting the pair to clash against each other somewhere down the line.

They didn’t have to wait long as Styles clashed against Rollins at Money in the Bank in an encounter in which the latter prevailed. After the match, Styles, who left the ring, rushed back inside the squared circle in what felt like an incoming heel turn with Styles going full gung-ho on Rollins.

However, in the end, Styles extended his arm out for a handshake and Rollins, after a bit of hesitation, reciprocated the sentiment by shaking the Phenomenal One’s hand.

It might have felt like the end of the feud but the way AJ Styles ran back to the ring suggested that he might have attacked the Beast Slayer if he didn’t turn around in time.

Also, there is a lot of potential left in this bout, which is why there is more to come from this front and adding Lesnar to it won’t make much sense.

#4 Has held Universal Title for too long

Let us have a look at the history of the WWE Universal Title. On the 25th of July, 2016, WWE announced the creation of the WWE Universal Championship. 1028 days have passed since then and the title has had only 6 champions.

Among the 6, Brock Lesnar has been the most prominent force behind the Universal Title. Indeed, he has held the title for 659 days split between two reigns. Doing the math, he has held the title for 64% of the time since its inception.

So, in short, the WWE Universal Title is essentially a Brock Lesnar title. Considering that he is a part-timer, the Universal Title hasn’t appeared much in the WWE due to this.

As a result, another stint with the Universal Title for Lesnar might just kill the importance of the Championship.

On the other hand, it has been almost 5 years since Lesnar held the WWE Championship – so it might be about time for him to get back in the contention for it.

#3 Elevate Kingston

This is a rather controversial point. After all, how does losing to Brock Lesnar elevate Kofi Kingston? In all certainty, Kingston might never be in the title picture again after losing the WWE Championship to Brock Lesnar, so how does it benefit Kingston?

As much as most of the fans in the WWE Universe hate to admit it, Brock Lesnar is a major draw – a marquee WWE Superstar. Vince McMahon wouldn’t have given him the opportunities that he has if Lesnar couldn’t bring in cash for the Chairman.

In short, Lesnar is the real deal – people pay to see him. In fact, he is almost always pitted against the best Superstars in the business (Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Daniel Bryan and so on).

As a result, should Lesnar cash in against Kingston, especially if he is already tired from a successful title defense match, it would elevate the status of Kingston, who otherwise would never have had a match against the Beast.

#2 Roman Reigns vs Lesnar

One may be forgiven if they forget the number of times Brock Lesnar has been pitted against Roman Reigns. Indeed, WWE used matched between Reigns and Lesnar to establish the former as the face of the company.

In fact, Reigns was the one that ended Brock Lesnar’s streak of 504 days as WWE Universal Champion at SummerSlam 2018. The feud was all set to continue further with Braun Strowman being the third wheel.

The trio were set to face each other in a Triple Threat match at Crown Jewel last year but Reigns had to relinquish his title due to his leukemia relapsing, abruptly ending the feud.

Now, with Reigns in SmackDown Live, it would only bring heat on the Big Dog if he were to win the WWE Championship from Kingston, who is very over with the fans.

However, if Lesnar takes the belt off Kingston, then the WWE Universe won’t turn on Reigns for attempting to win the title from Lesnar as the Beast is not really liked as much as Kingston.

#1 Fox deal

From October this year, SmackDown Live is set to move to FOX Network – this is a well-known fact. What is also known is that FOX have actually advertised Brock Lesnar as a SmackDown Superstar.

While there also suggestions that Lesnar’s name might just be used as a means to bring more interest to the product, there is actually a genuine chance for the Beast to be on the blue brand with all things considered.

For starters, he no longer holds the WWE Universal Title – a Championship exclusive to RAW – and he now has a Money In The Bank contract, which means he can target any Championship that he wants.

Even though October is still a bit far away, it won’t be shocking to see Lesnar have a go at the flagship title of SmackDown LIVE with the impending FOX deal kicking in.

At the very least, it would set the company up for a feud between him and Reigns by the time October arrives.
