It could happen that either Dean doesn't get approached by AEW or the deal doesn't go through

Another reason for Dean Ambrose to stick around in WWE could be the failure of negotiations between the only viable alternative to WWE currently and that is AEW. It is quite possible that Dean was locked in negotiations with the AEW but one thing or the other didn't fall in place when it came to creative freedom, his place in the roster, his schedule or some other thing.

Another reason could be AEW's hesitance in signing up Dean before they have established themselves as formidable players in the market. AEW might as well have changed their strategy wherein now they are looking to first get the show running and then hire new talent. With AEW out of the picture Dean doesn't really have that many viable options available other than coming back to WWE
