Everyone remembers the debacle that happened at WrestleMania 31. WWE brought in Sting, WCW’s biggest star (with the exception of Goldberg), only to have him lose his first match to Triple H.
It made absolutely no sense and just made Sting look weak during later storylines. Fans of WCW were angered by this, and with how other WCW stars had been treated by the company over time (such as DDP, and even Goldberg during his first run in the WWE).
This could be WWE's way of saying that they’re sorry, inviting the older fans to watch the product once
