5 reasons why Roman Reigns is the perfect choice for the face of WWE

He's here to stay, BELIEVE THAT!
He's here to stay, BELIEVE THAT!

WWE has always established a young upcoming star as their next face of the company. Earlier it was Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, then came John Cena, and currently, we have Roman Reigns.

He made his main roster debut in November 2012 alongside Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins as a part of The Shield. The group teamed together till June 2014, after which Reigns entered into the singles competition.

Already a Grand Slam Champion in less than six years in the company, Reigns has featured in the main-event of countless PPVs and is a multi-time WWE Champion. Ever since The Shield split up, fans have turned on Reigns despite him portraying a babyface.

Despite not being the most fan-favourite star on the roster, Reigns deserves a lot of respect considering he's one of the most consistent performers in WWE today. While many fans are against the decision, the Big Dog is the perfect Superstar for the top babyface in WWE, and here are five reasons why.

#5 He can captivate the crowd

His mic work is actually not that bad.
His mic work is actually not that bad.

'Let's go, Roman! Roman sucks!'

It's very rare for a WWE wrestler to have a love/hate relationship with the fans, and with Roman getting this kind of reaction from the fans proves that he's doing his job right.

His mic work may not be on John Cena or The Miz's level yet, but with some more work, he should be able to get there. His recent promo against Brock Lesnar got the WWE Universe behind him and boosted the love/hate relationship fans have for him. Even people who do not like him as the poster boy of the company acknowledged that it was a promo that was the need of the hour for him.

From polarizing reactions to outstanding in-ring performances, Reigns has enthralled the hearts and minds of WWE fans for better or worse. And let's face it - any publicity is good publicity.

#4 Popularity

Children love Reigns.
Children love Reigns.

Although Roman Reigns gets booed around arenas, thousands of kids love him and see him as a role model. Roman's status as an underdog who emerges victorious after defying the odds everytime gets kids to rally behind him.

Since WWE is now a PG product, it has to think about the children watching who think of Reigns as an inspiration. He fits into the role perfectly, and that's the reason young fans worldwide adore him.

The Big Dog is one of the highest merchandise sellers today which only goes to show that he is WWE's biggest and most prominent babyface at the moment.

#3 Family Heritage

Roman Reigns is part of the prestigious Anoa’i family which is known for having a reputable wrestling background with a colossal number of successful wrestlers. From Yokozuna to Umaga to The Usos, the Anoa'i family's heritage and legacy run through decades of highly talented performers.

It is safe to say that wrestling runs through Roman's blood. Being a part of the greatest wrestling family in history is surely an added advantage for him, and Roman has successfully managed to carry forward the endowment left by his forefathers.

#2 Technically underrated in-ring worker

How many wrestlers in WWE over 6" and 260 lbs can leap over the top rope? How many wrestlers in WWE have a nearly negligible botch ratio?

Roman Reigns is arguably one of the greatest performers and pure wrestlers in the world today. With a striking combination of power, speed, and explosiveness, Roman is a complete wrestler and can perform a lot of stuff in the ring that not many people of his size can do.

Sure he may not be as technically blessed as AJ Styles or Seth Rollins, he makes up for it with his neat execution and great brawling abilities. One thing which always gets disregarded is how good a "seller" Reigns is. He worked stiff matches with Brock Lesnar and made a lot of moves look extremely painful.

His in-ring psychology might only be second to Kevin Owens, and despite portraying a babyface character, his heel mannerisms during the matches get the fans invested in him.

Do you still think "You can't wrestle" chants are fair for the Big Dog?

#1 WWE built him from scratch

Reigns in NXT

Remember Leakee from Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW)?That was Reigns' first run in WWE. Alongside Tyler Breeze, he was a one-time FCW Florida Tag Team Champion before the development brand changed its name to NXT.

WWE has always had a soft corner for its homegrown talents like John Cena and Randy Orton. And why shouldn't it be the case? The company has built these performers from scratch and reaps the benefits years later when these superstars go on to main-event multiple PPVs.

With an influx of talented indie wrestlers in WWE over the years, various homegrown performers have failed to prove their mettle in the company. Roman Reigns, with his stand out performances consistently, has proved time and again why he deserves to stay on the top of the food chain, and WWE has never failed to capitalize on any opportunity involving The Big Dog.
