Is this really the Kane who buried The Undertaker?

From the day Lesnar won the Universal Championship from Goldberg at WrestleMania 33, we all knew he was not going to lose until his predictable clash with Roman Reigns happened.

Lesnar defended the Universal Championship four times over the past year. The first was against Samoa Joe at Great Balls of Fire, the second was in a fatal five-way at SummerSlam, third was against Braun Strowman at No Mercy, and the latest was against Kane and Strowman in a triple-threat at Royal Rumble.

But we all knew that Lesnar was going to retain his championship in these matches. It did not matter how good these matches were, or how strongly WWE built Lesnar’s opponents. It was too predictable, so it felt kind of pointless. One can argue that it helped add more credibility to Samoa Joe and Strowman’s character, but we cannot forget that they were also there to take the loss.

Recently in a live WWE event in Chicago, Lesnar defeated Kane in around 30 seconds. What was the point of that match? It did nothing for Lesnar and only destroyed the credibility of the ‘Big Red Machine’ or whatever was left of it.

When Roman beats Lesnar, there will be no need for the WWE to put on pointless squash matches just to show that the Championship is being defended.
