5 reasons why Ronda Rousey's WWE run is doomed to fail

Ronda Rousey,
Former UFC Woman's Bantamweight Champion, Ronda Rousey.

While a lot of fans in The WWE Universe probably want to rush to the former Bantamweight champions aid and herald her appearance at The Royal Rumble as the greatest thing that WWE has done in a while, it also comes with some major downsides that could hurt both WWE and Rousey herself.

With that being said and Rousey's WWE run just begging, here are five reasons why Ronda Rousey's run in WWE is doomed to fail. Of course, some people might see that as a little too pessimistic, especially after the reaction she received at The Royal Rumble Rumble pay per view, try to keep an open mind and see the varying perspectives of this.

#5 Limited storyline possibilities

Ronda Rousey,

Ronda Rousey might end up being built up as an unstoppable force by WWE, but that could also lead to her downfall if WWE isn't careful. In fact, Rousey is very different from many of the women on The Raw and Smackdown Live rosters, which means that she may not be able to have a realistic looking match with many of them.

Of course, that's not Rousey's fault and is the same problem that WWE currently has with finding suitable opponents for Brock Lesnar, but it's going to be a difficult task for the company to do nonetheless. What will make this even more challenging, however, is who WWE decides to sacrifice in the name of Rousey's push?

For example, Nia Jax has teased a Nia Jax title run ever since she first appeared on the main roster and while The Irresistible force has come close to the title many times, she was always sacrificed to put over another star. That's something WWE is already having a problem with now that Asuka's on the main roster and it will only get worse with Rousey.

#4 Hurts the woman's division

Nia Jax,
Nia Jax is only one of countless superstars that will be negatively affected by Ronda Rousey.

Can you imagine how the rest of The women's roster feels about Ronda Rousey right now?

While WWE earned a ton of publicity for Ronda Rousey's appearance at the end of The Royal Rumble, the moment arguably came at the expense of 30 women that had just fought their hearts out only seconds earlier. With that being said, WWE will now be forced to find a balance between Rousey and the rest of the roster.

Unfortunately for the rest of the women's division, it seems like WWE is more interested in promoting Rousey, which was extremely evident after her five-minute promo package on Raw. Hopefully, WWE won't sacrifice the enter roster in the name of Ronda Rousey, but the company has made stupid mistakes like that before.

Sure, some might think that's a little too harsh on Rowdy Ronda Rousey, WWE basically proved who they were really behind when they didn't give The Woman's Rumble match the same attention as Rousey's appearance. In the end though, hopefully, WWE is able to strike a decent balance here and not make a habit of sacrificing superstar after superstar to her.

#3 Possibility of ending Asuka's streak

Asuka,
Asuka's streak is in serious jeopardy now that Ronda Rousey is in WWE.

Whether fans want to accept it or not, Asuka's undefeated streak is one of the biggest things in WWE right now. With that being said, it is understandable that the grand accomplishment has to end sometime, but ending it too soon and to the wrong person would be a bad idea. Furthermore, ending it at the hands of Rousey would be a disservice to another young star.

in fact, WWE would be better off to save Asuka's streak for a young WWE star that needs a moment like that and Rousey just isn't that person. In fact, her cross over an appeal from UFC and the fact that she was a former Bantamweight champion, already gives her all the credibility she needs.

Yes, this takes away the possibility of the desired dream match between Asuka and Rousey until the streak ends, but it could be worth it if WWE gives the rub to the right superstar in the process. In the end, maybe this is just an overreaction or something of that nature, but its hard to argue that Rousey needs to end Asuka's streak in order to establish herself.

#2 Part-time champion

Brock Lesnar,
Brock Lesnar won't be the only part-time champion now that Ronda Rousey has arrived.

Part-time champions have become a bit of a trend over the course of the last couple years and it doesn't look like Rousey is going to be much of an exception to that rule either. In fact, while The WWE Universe were waiting eagerly for a explanation from Rousey for her appearance at The Royal Rumble, she was kept off of Raw instead.

Even worse, WWE decided to devote a promo package to her and all the publicity that the moment garnered the WWE. Of course, the problem with this is that WWE decided not to capitalize on the momentum created from the surreal moment and have her on Raw the next night, which is a good indicator that she will be used sparingly.

With that being said and fans already tired of Brock Lesnar, John Cena and The Rock having runs as part-time champions, this is really going to do damage to Rousey's time with WWE in the long run. Sure, fans can argue that she should only be used for special occasions, but that becomes harder to defend given how big of a deal she is right now.

#1 Diminishing appeal

Ronda Rousey,

It’s no secret that WWE is a certified publicity hound and while Ronda Rousey's surprise return at The Royal Rumble provided a lot of that, its most likely not going to be that way forever. In fact, WWE could very well lose interest in Rousey after the media storm dies down and everyone has seen her compete in a WWE ring.

Unfortunately for Rousey, who left UFC after losing back to back matches for The Bantamweight Championship against Holly Holms and Amanda Nunez, WWE has soured on other headline grabbers before and very well could again if The WWE Universe doesn't respond to Rousey how they want them to.

With that being said, once Rousey wins whatever title she goes after and one day defeats Asuka's streak, WWE will literally have nothing left they can do with her. Yeah, they can trot her out for special appearances and maybe even give her a run with The Universal title if the right opponent is presented, but that's probably not going to last very long either.

In the end, her appeal will diminish, WWE's publicity will diminish and WWE will realize that they wasted their time for all the wrong reasons. What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments below!
