5 Reasons why the Intercontinental title is perfect for Dean Ambrose right now

Throughout his career, Dean Ambrose has been one of the most entertaining superstars in the WWE

#3 More feud opportunities

Who will Ambrose have to defend his new title against?

Now that Dolph Ziggler has turned heel, it makes sense to have a face holding the Intercontinental Championship with the heel vs. face balance slightly shifted on the SmackDown roster.

While it is possible for Ziggler to feud with Ambrose for the title, it’s hard to see that happening, at least in the near future.

Ziggler needs to step away from the title picture as his character resets, and it makes far more sense for him to elevate the likes of Apollo Crews and Kalisto, who have received little character direction to this point.

Because Apollo Crews and Kalisto needed some work before they are able to be serious title contenders, it would have been difficult for The Miz to remain IC champion. While there’s no doubt that The Miz has been one of the best IC title-holders of all-time, the well could have run dry without worthy competitors.

Once Ambrose’s feud with The Miz ends, the A-Lister can even be moved to the main event picture.

Meanwhile, Ambrose has a few possible superstars he can feud with after The Miz. Ziggler is a possibility, and Luke Harper is a dark horse if there is a falling out in the Wyatts.

But one name I keep thinking of is Baron Corbin. The “Lone Wolf” has excelled in matches with Styles and Ziggler, and he fared out pretty well before John Cena hit the “Attitude Adjustment” on him rather unceremoniously.

Corbin doesn’t have much of a place in the main event picture with Cena and Styles clashing, but he could be an excellent rival for Ambrose. Corbin deserves a push, and the IC title would be a step in the right direction for 2017’s early star.
