Here are 5 reasons why the nWo was better than D-Generation X

The New World Order and D-Generation X. The nWo in World Championship Wrestling and DX in The World Wrestling Federation.

The two most popular stables of the 1990s in the two biggest wrestling promotion of the 1990s. If you talk about wrestling during this era, these are the two names that will spring to mind above all else, except maybe for Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Both stables enjoyed immense popularity in the world of professional wrestling and became worldwide phenomenons. There was nothing better than tuning into WCW or WWF on Monday Nights and seeing nWo on Nitro and DX on WWF, respectively.

But, which one of these two legendary factions were better? Was it the all-conquering juggernaut that was The New World Order? Or was it the cocky group of friends that made up D-Generation X? You'll find plenty of people on both sides of the divide. Me? I pledge my allegiance to the nWo. Why? That's what I'm here to tell you.

So, without further ado, here are 5 reasons why the nWo was better than D-Generation X:

#5 Everything about them was cooler

The nWo was just plain cooler

The whole appeal of both the nWo and DX was the fact that they were cool. That's why the viewers loved watching them and tuned in week in and week out to see them do their thing on Monday Nitro or Monday Night Raw, depending on your preference. But, the fact of the matter is, the nWo was just plain cooler.

Their black and white colour scheme is now iconic in the world of professional wrestling. Sure, DX's black and green is pretty nice but it doesn't hold a candle to the Order's classic design. Ditto for the logo. Their simple and minimalistic logo is so much better than the DX’s.

Both groups had great entrance themes but seeing the likes of Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, and Hulk Hogan just swagger down to the ring like they owned the place? Not even Road Dogg's entrance speech can match up against that.

In a battle where being cool won you ratings, there was no one cooler than the nWo.

#4 The nWo had more legendary wrestlers

Some of the wrestlers who joined up with the faction are bonafide legends in the professional wrestling business

While there is a valid argument that the nWo eventually become too big for its own good, the fact remains that some of the wrestlers who joined up with the faction are bonafide legends in the professional wrestling business.

Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, Sting, Mr Perfect Curt Henning, The Macho Man Randy Savage, the list just goes on and on and on. DX, on the other hand, can only boast two names that can match up to the ones I just listed – Triple H and Shawn Michaels.

There is no way the likes of The New Age Outlaws - Road Dogg and Billy Gunn - X-Pac and Chyna can live up to the reputations of the biggest names to have graced the nWo roster through the years.

#3 They won more titles

One of the key metrics of measuring the success of a stable is the number of titles its members have accumulated

One of the key metrics of measuring the success of a stable is the number of titles its members have accumulated during their tenure with said stable. Here, the nWo far outweighs DX. Not only has the nWo won 30 major titles during its time to DX's 22, just look at the importance of the titles won.

8 World Championships to 5 WWF Championships, 9 United States Championships to 2 Intercontinental Championships, and finally, 10 Tag Team Championships to 7 Tag Team Championships.

Other titles include 3 WCW Television Championships and 1 Cruiserweight Championship to 2 European Championships, 5 Hardcore Championships, and 1 Women's Championship held by Stephanie McMahon, of all people.

The numbers don't lie. nWo was by far the more successful faction during its era of dominance.

#2 Dominated the Monday Night Wars

The nWo was the most important stable of the entire Monday Night Wars

The nWo was the most important stable of the entire Monday Night Wars. After all, following the nWo's debut on WCW, the company dominated WWF in the ratings war for 82 consecutive weeks. That is more than a year and a half of getting one over on Vince McMahon and co.

In fact, there were only two major reasons that the Monday Night Wars eventually went the way of the WWE. The first is that the nWo became a victim of its own success. It became too bloated and lost its shine. The second was a man who goes by the name of Stone Cold Steve Austin.

D-Generation X played only a minor role in the Monday Night Wars. The nWo was very much front and centre.

#1 The nWo gave rise to the popularity of stables

We wouldn’t have had this stable if it hadn’t been for the nWo

Sure, The Four Horsemen were the original great stable of professional wrestling, but it was the nWo that made stables cool. The success that the Black and White Order experienced was unlike anything the world of professional wrestling had ever seen before.

The whole reason that DX was even created was that the nWo made stables the in-thing in wrestling. If not for the nWo there would be no Corporation, Ministry of Darkness, Corporate Ministry, and most of all, there would be no D-Generation X.

The fact that DX owes its existence to The New World Order means that the latter was without a shadow of a doubt, the better faction.
