The Undertaker is a renowned WWE legend with a career that spans almost three decades. He has been involved in various pivotal storylines and matches within WWE history and is one of the most respected WWE superstars of all time.

The "Dead Man" is also one of the most loyal wrestling personalities to the WWE. Since joining the company, The Undertaker has never jumped ship to another organization, sticking with Vince through the good and bad times.

He has been involved in some of the most memorable and defining moments and has also achieved everything that there is to accomplish in the world of wrestling.

The 25th anniversary of Raw is around the corner and The Undertaker is expected to make his return since suffering a painful loss to Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania 33. Speculations on one more match are rife, but one thing for sure is that the man billed to hail from Death Valley has nothing more to prove.

Here are 5 reasons why The Undertaker is the most celebrated WWE superstar of all time.

#5 Longevity

The Undertaker made his official on-camera debut on November 22, 1990, at Survivor Series as a villainous character as the mystery partner of Ted DiBiase's Million Dollar Team. He has continued to perform to this day making him the longest-tenured wrestler in WWE history. The ability to compete for over two decades and still connect with the fans is something extraordinary.

Through the years the fans have come to adore "The Dead Man", and he has remained relevant throughout his career, making the best out of every opportunity the company provides him. This longevity is a rare feat that puts The Undertaker in a special class of WWE performers. He tops the list of longest-tenured wrestlers thus making him a once in a lifetime superstar.

#4 Great matches

Besides all the accomplishments the Undertaker has achieved, he is also synonymous with putting in great matches. Despite being a big man in his own right, The Undertaker does not have limited set of moves. He can fly over the top rope to the outside on to his opponent, apply submission holds and move swiftly like a cruiserweight.

In his prime, The Dead Man was one of the most talented wrestlers on the roster. It is also worth noting that he practised Brazilian jiu-jitsu for a long time, earning his black belt in 2011 under Rolles Gracie. This inspired his striking gloves and Hell's Gate submission.

At Wrestlemania 25, The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels had a match that pundits have described as arguably the greatest match of all time. His Hell in a Cell match against Triple H at Wrestlemania 28 was unanimously acclaimed as the match of the year.

He put on several other high performances in his twenty plus years in WWE. His Wrestlemania matches have been the main attractions and have always lived up to the hype.

#3 Different successful personas

Over the course of his two-decade-plus career, The Undertaker has developed many different personas and made each of them work. The ability to make all his personas successful is a great feat. Several wrestlers have failed to embrace and make their new personas over with the WWE universe.

The Undertaker has remained popular throughout his career even as he evolved from his initial persona of The Western Mortician through to The Dead Man and The Lord of Darkness in the late nineties.

One of the most popular personas the Undertaker incorporated was The American Bad Ass which he embraced upon returning from injury at Judgement Day in May 2000. During this time, he was a biker complete with sunglasses, bandana, jean shirt and motorcycle.

The Big Evil persona, in which he played a heel, followed thereafter. With all these personas, he still managed to receive big reactions and that is what puts The Undertaker above the rest.

#2 Consecutive World Heavyweight Championship wins at WrestleMania

The World Heavyweight Title's heritage can be traced back to the first world heavyweight championship, thereby giving the belt a legacy over 100 years old, making it the oldest in the world. It was, therefore, a very significant title in the Wrestling business.

The Undertaker made history in 2008 when he became the first and only challenger to compete for the World Heavyweight Championship, the famous title introduced by Eric Bischoff in 2002, at back-to-back WrestleManias and win the belt on both occasions.

After beating Batista to win the title at WrestleMania 23, in an excellent match that deserved to be the main event, ‘Taker then defeated Edge the following year, tapping out the champion to capture the world title for the second time in as many years.

Other superstars have successfully retained a world championship in back-to-back years, such as John Cena in 2006 and 2007, but in both of those cases, Cena wasn’t the challenger. And while Stone Cold Steve Austin was crowned the new champion at both WrestleMania 14 and 15, that was the old WWF Championship, rather than the revived World Heavyweight title.

#1 The Streak

Wrestlemania is the most significant show of the year for WWE, and it only happens once a year. The Undertaker holds the record for most wins at the event with an unprecedented run of 21 straight victories.

He sustained his first loss at WrestleMania 30 to Brock Lesnar then followed this with two wins at Wrestlemania 31 and 32 against Bray Wyatt and Shane McMahon respectively. He lost to Roman Reigns after five spears at Wrestlemania 33 in what pundits thought was his last match.

Despite the two losses at Wrestlemania, it is his impressive 21 consecutive victories at the show of shows that has separated him from every other WWE superstar.

The 21 wins, which came to be known as The Streak, is a unique statistic and will probably never be replicated by any other superstar. This streak began at Wrestlemania 7 when The Undertaker made his WrestleMania debut by quickly defeating "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka.
