While there are no firm details regarding why The Undertaker suddenly decided to walk away from the company so quietly, there are quite a few assumptions that can be drawn from his career. One such example is a rumor that appeared around WrestleMania 32, which claimed that Vince McMahon originally wanted Undertaker to lose to Shane McMahon.
Interestingly enough, The Undertaker was reportedly so upset about the request that he refused Vince McMahon's phone calls after the event. With that being said, it's obvious that The Undertaker is rightfully stingy about who he loses to and that could be why we are seeing him walk away at this point.
