5 Reasons Why WWE Must Grant Roman Reigns Another Rematch For The Universal Title

Roman Reigns,
Does Roman Reigns deserve a rematch?

Whether the WWE Universe likes it or not, Roman Reigns is still the rightful number one contender for Brock Lesnar's Universal Championship. While one would think that is no longer true after Reigns lost back to back matches at WrestleMania 34 and The Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia, Reigns still deserves another title shot.

With that being said and WWE pumping the breaks on The Universal Title picture after the controversial finish at The Greatest Royal Rumble, here are five reasons why WWE must give Roman Reigns another shot at the big red belt in the future and should even give him a run with the title for good measure!

#5 The Buildup

Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, WrestleMania 34,
Should WWE just throw away everything they worked for in this storyline?

If WWE were to remove Roman Reigns from The Universal Title picture, it would first and foremost come at the expense of everything the WWE has been building up to over the past couple of months. Not only is Reigns victory in the seven-man elimination chamber match instantly rendered worthless if he is removed, but also his win against Cena as well.

In the end, WWE spent a lot of time, resources and even sacrificed countless top stars in order to make Reigns the guy and that's what the goal should still be if WWE doesn't want all this to go to waste. If they do decide to take Reigns out of the title picture, however, it will signal a huge mistake for WWE and lead to a huge hole at the top of the card.

#4 No one to take his place

Bobby Lashley, Bruan Strowman,
Do you think Lasley and Strowman are capable of taking on Brock Lesnar?

While many fans in The WWE Universe would probably want their favorite superstar to take Reign's place in The Universal Title picture, there aren't really many that people that can or that deserve to take that spot. In fact, with WWE's decision to put Samoa Joe on Raw, there really doesn't seem to be a suitable opponent for Lesnar going forward.

Of course, WWE could always stick Bruan Strowman or Bobby Lashley in Reign's place, but both superstars are problematic options for different reasons. In Strowman's case, he has already taken several losses to Lesnar before last year and doesn't really have the kind of momentum that warrants a title picture run right now.

As for Lashley, he really hasn't lived up to what The WWE has wanted to do with him and has even drawn criticism for being unsafe in the ring. That, matched with his lackluster push so far in his latest run with the company, it would be bewildering at best if WWE tried to stick him in the title picture right now.

With that being said, both superstars would be excellent picks to face Lesnar in the future, especially since Lashley spent time as a legitimate MMA fighter but not before Reigns and Lesnar finish up their rivalry. Having those two enter the title picture before Reigns finishes up his rivalry with Lesnar and ultimately win the belt, would rob fans of a long-awaited payoff.

#3 Ruining the payoff

Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns,
Will WWE rob fans of the payoff they deserve in The Reigns Lesnar storyline?

It is no secret that one of the best moments in a pro wrestling storyline is when the fans finally get their well-deserved payoffs for months and sometimes even years of investment, but not giving Reigns his rematch would rob fans of that magical moment. Of course, some fans are probably happy with that, but there are other fans that feel differently.

Maybe Reigns hasn't won over the entire WWE crowd, but he has made stride after stride since his WrestleMania 31 main event against Brock Lesnar and has a lot more fan support then what he did back then. A lot of that probably had to do with him reuniting with The Shield earlier last year for another run, but it is still an audience that is fully behind Reigns.

In the end, there are fans that really want to see Reigns finally get his hands on the title and go on to be the guy for The WWE. Not only is that evident by the rapid-fire chants of lets go Roman during his matches inside the squared circle, but also by the way his haters respond to him as well.

If nothing else, he is in the same place as John Cena right now with fans and it would be stupid not to pull the trigger on his long-awaited Universal Title reign. Sure, he might get booed by 50% of The WWE Universe, but it seems like the other half of the crowd will also be behind the Big Dog!

#4 Opportunity to get him over

CM Punk,
Could CM Punk help Roman Reigns get over with the fans?

Not only is WWE ruining a perfectly good payoff by not having Reigns get his rematch and ultimately defeating Brock Lesnar for The Universal Title, they are also missing a few prime opportunities to get him over as well. While there are still a plethora of ways that WWE can try to get Reigns over, the best strategy would be to have him beat the streak.

Of course, the streak that is being referred to is CM Punk's 2012 streak of 434 days of being WWE champion before being beaten by The Rock at The Royal Rumble. Interestingly enough Brock Lesnar is currently in the 400-day ballpark and will be able to beat Punk's streak in just over a month.

With that being said and The WWE Universe still harboring bad feelings about CM Punk's exit from The WWE, wouldn't it be the perfect opportunity for Reigns to end the streak short of Punk's historic mark and start a title run of his own? Would that be enough to put him over the top and finally get the reception from fans that he deserves?

#1 Controversial finish at Greatest Royal Rumble

Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, Greatest Royal Rumble,
Do you agree with WWE's decision at The Greatest Royal Rumble pay per view?

If nothing else, Roman Reigns deserves a rematch due to the controversial nature of the finish at Greatest Royal Rumble While Lesnar was ultimately ruled the winner after he got speared through the cage wall by Reigns, it was seen by countless fans that Reigns's feet were actually the ones that touched the floor first.

Of course, a lot of that has to do with how Reigns practically DDT'd himself in the process of the finishing blow, but its hard to deny Reigns a rematch if he actually did get screwed by a wrong decision made by WWE officials. In fact, this alone is grounds for a rematch between the two later on down the line.

In the end, WWE needs to finish what they started and the controversial finish at Greatest Royal Rumble at least hints at the possibility that WWE will do that. If they don't however, it is going to be a very confusing transition for WWE storyline wise and would render everything the company did in the build-up to WrestleMania 34 completely meaningless
