WWE occasionally brings back legends and Hall of Famers to boost ratings or to earn better PPV revenues. The dream encounter was being promoted for a year and led to WrestleMania 28 breaking a 5-year record, garnering 1,253,000 buys. Previously, WrestleMania 23 held the record of most number of PPV buys.
