5 rumours heading into Raw this week (18 March 2019)

Could these rumours be true?
Could these rumours be true?

The one thing that keeps wrestling fans on their toes is rumours, as these snippets and bits of information from around the internet provides some clues as to what will go down on WWE TV this week. And from judging the rumours circulating the internet this week, Raw could be a wild episode, as everything from WrestleMania dream matches to returning champions are slated for the show.

WWE has announced that this week's episode of Monday Night Raw will see Kurt Angle announce his WrestleMania opponent, Finn Balor pick a mystery partner, and Brock Lesnar appear on the show.

This sounds like a jam-packed show that will get fans hyped for WrestleMania, and the rumours surrounding the episode are even more intriguing, so without any further delay let us go through the rumours surrounding Raw.

#5 Ruthless Aggression

The perfect swan song
The perfect swan song

The career of Kurt Angle is a storied one that dates all the way back to the hottest period in wrestling, the Attitude Era. It's amazing that a superstar like Angle has managed to stay relevant in the ever-changing wrestling world all these years later, but it is not hard to see why the former WWE Champion is regarded as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time.

As this is a man that is responsible for some of the most memorable matches and moments in wrestling history, so, when an ageing Angle came out to the ring to announce that he will retire from wrestling at WrestleMania, fans were not shocked but saddened. As this is the last time we will see Angle in the ring.

And now it is being reported that Angle's last opponent will be none other than John Cena, Cena and Angle have a rich history that works as the build for this match, as both these men have waged so many wars, this last match between the two feels needed.

Cena being the man to take out Angle is sort of poetic, as it was Angle that was Cena's first opponent in the WWE. So do you think that this rumour holds weight, or will WWE select another opponent for Angle?

#4 Finn's Partner

Finn is in need of backup

The one thing that WWE just can't seem to get right is the booking of Finn Balor, as this is a man that being on the receiving end of some of the worst booking from the WWE creative team over the last few years.

Going from Universal Champion to midcard wanderer is never a good thing for any wrestler. But after Finn picked up the Intercontinental Title fans though that would change, as this is a man that can be a huge draw for WWE if they used him right, but it seems like the company doesn't really have an intention of doing that. Or do they?

Rumours have been going around that the reason why Balor dropped his title to Lashley was due to WWE having bigger plans for Balor, as that plan included a one on one match with The Undertaker at WrestleMania.

But after the rumours refreshed over the last few days, it seems that could be off the cards, as Balor himself shot down the speculation, but in wrestling nothing is impossible.

And the tag team match WWE booked on Raw between Balor with his unknown partner vs Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush, feels like it is set up for Balor's unknown partner to be the man that takes Balor's spot in this feud with Lashley, while Balor branches off into another direction.

Rumours have been running rampant on who this superstar could be, as everyone from Bruan Strowman to Sami Zayn have been speculated for this spot. Who do you think could be Balor's partner on Raw?

#3 Blast From The Past

The new number one contenders?
The new number one contenders?

The one thing that fans did not expect at WWE Fastlane was the return of Beth Phoenix, and while Beth did not make a huge comeback into the squared circle, as it was just her getting the living daylights beaten out of her by Tamina and Nia Jax, it was a huge moment in the course of WWE's WrestleMania plans.

It seems like those plans to bring Beth back and pair her with her longtime buddy Natalya was for a reason, and recent rumors have indicated that reason could be related to Bayley and Sasha Banks.

The Women's Tag Team Champions have been on a roll as of late, beating all comers for their tag team titles, but it seems that at WrestleMania they will face the old guard on their quest to bring prestige to the belts.

Many fans want Trish Stratus and Lita to be the legends that put Bayley and Sasha over in a match for the titles, but it seems WWE is opting for the team of Natalya and Beth instead. So this week on Raw we could be seeing WWE planting the seeds for this match, as there is barely enough time to waste on the road to the event.

#2 Wrestlemania Match In The Making

The biggest match for Reigns on Raw?
The biggest match for Reigns on Raw?

The one thing that made Roman Reigns return to the WWE special was the fact that fans were intrigued to see who was going to be Reigns' first opponent, and for a while, many thought that was going to be none other than Dean Ambrose, as the writing was basically on the wall for that one.

But WWE doesn't seem like they are going to put Dean in a high profile clash when rumors have been going around that he might not resign with them. So that leaves Reigns with only one option, and that is to face Drew McIntyre.

McIntyre and Reigns are two of the biggest stars on Raw at the moment, as there is not another bigger, badder heel on Raw than McIntyre. The man is a world beater, and WWE knows that. As the beating Drew gave Reigns last week on indicated that these men will face each other at Wrestlemania, and rumors have suggested the same.

Could Drew be Reigns' opponent, and if he is, who should be the man to win in this one on one encounter? Leave your comments below.

#1 Lesnar and Rollins Wage War

A brawl in the works?
A brawl in the works?

The Universal Title feud between Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar has been disappointing so far, as WWE has not really put that much effort into making this potential main event anything more than another championship match. As Rollins has been off doing his own thing with The Shield, while Lesnar is evidently preparing to make a return to the UFC, that leaves the poor Universal Title in the middle with no one to care about its prestige.

But hopefully, that could improve on Raw this week when Brock Lesnar returns to the WWE. Rollins will also be on the show, as he will take on Drew McIntyre in the main event of Raw, and now rumors have indicated that this match of Drew vs Seth could end abruptly as Lesnar could come out to destroy his WrestleMania opponent.

This was a rumor that most already predicated, as every time Lesnar is on Raw he is always involved in a pull-apart brawl with his opponent, maybe WWE could prove us wrong on Raw, but for now, this is what is probably going down when Lesnar returns to Raw.

What makes Sting special? His first AEW opponent opens up RIGHT HERE.
