Fans of the WWE who don't know each other any better might be tempted to think that Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn absolutely despise each other but nothing can be further from the truth. The pair are the closest of friends and have been since their teenage years in Canada.
They met while they were just getting started in the business in Quebec and became close within a matter of months eventually leaving their hometown to tour the indie circuit across the United States as Kevin Steen and El Generico.
When Sami Zayn finally got the call to join up with WWE's developmental brand NXT, he was thrilled to learn that KO would be joining him soon after. The two have been in a heated on-screen rivalry since but are still extremely close when the cameras are off.
In the Fight Owens, Fight Documentary about The Prizefighter, you can see Owens hugging Zayn and telling him "This is for both of us" after winning the WWE Universal Championship on the night after Summerslam 2016.
