While the moment remains cemented in Undertaker's legacy as one of his darkest acts, the mainstream media criticized the company for pushing the limits and going to far to sell the product.
Considering that Vince McMahon was still embracing the Attitude Era, the company was doing everything in their power to break the usual norms and entertain the crowd through their spine-chilling moments, and compelling narrative.
