5 Signs That The Shield Will Split Up Soon

How long before WWE chooses to break up The Shield?
How long before WWE chooses to break up The Shield?

The Shield's day's are numbered.

Of course The WWE Universe probably already knows that, especially since no storyline can last forever, but fans are still wondering when exactly WWE will pull the plug on The Shield reunion.

In fact, with the various swerves WWE threw into the six man tag team main event Monday night, one has to wonder if it will happen much sooner than originally expected.

While a lot of rumors are stating that The WWE isn't planning to break up The Shield until Survivor Series in November, some of the things that unfolded on The October 8th episode of Monday Night Raw seem to point to it happening sooner.

In the end, that might just be a prediction, but it is going to be backed up with facts and statistics to help prove the point.

With that being said and a short time between now and Survivor Series, here are five signs that The Shield will be breaking up soon. As always, let us know what your thoughts are in the comments below and also let us know what signs you have seen that show The Shield breaking up sooner rather than later.

#5 Braun Strowman's Team Showing Cracks

Is Drew McIntyre about to split from Ziggler and Strowman?
Is Drew McIntyre about to split from Ziggler and Strowman?

Believe it or not, one of the biggest signs of the impending Shield split is the fact that Braun Strowman's group is starting to show cracks in their armour. Fans were treated to witness those first cracks on The August 8th episode of Raw, where Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre got into an argument.

Things only got worse during the main event six man tag team match later that night when Strowman and McIntyre started arguing. This of course allowed The Shield to gain the upper hand for a short time, which just shows how distracted Strowman's group is by each other.

With that being said, once Braun Strowman's group dissipates, WWE has two options. The first one would be to create a similar three member superstar group to take on The Shield, or they could just move forward with The Shield split up.

In the end, with no other three man factions to speak of after their battle with Strowman, it's likely that when Strowman's team starts to crumble, so will The Shield.

#4 The Ratings

The WWE Universe not being behind The Shield is a good reason to break them up.
The WWE Universe not being behind The Shield is a good reason to break them up.

Its no secret that WWE has been scrapping the bottom of the barrel ratings wise and while The Shield is usually a popular entity with fans, it doesn't look like that's the case this time. In fact, with WWE's over focus on The Shield, it might even be a huge contributing factor to why ratings are so low, which means a change needs to be made

Unfortunately for the part of The WWE Universe that wants to see more of The Shield, the low ratings and the overall dislike of Roman Reigns is sure to make this storyline end sooner rather then later.

Of course, the eventual Shield break up could cause more fans to leave, but it will allow the ones that didn't like the idea of The Shield reunion to return as well.

#3 Already teasing the breakup

WWE is already teasing Dean Ambrose leaving The Shield.
WWE is already teasing Dean Ambrose leaving The Shield.

Let's be honest here.

WWE isn't going to hint at something in a storyline if it's not something they want to do or plan on doing at some point.

With that being said, the ongoing teases of Dean Ambrose betraying The Shield seem to point to WWE pulling the trigger on the split sooner rather than later.

In fact, according to some rumors, the split is set to happen around The Survivor Series pay per view, which means these storyline teases are no mistake and are going to get worse as time goes on.

Furthermore, it looks like Ambrose will officially be the one to cause the split, meaning that Ambrose will most likely be the one to turn heel and betray the group.

#2 Loss to Drew McIntyre, Braun Strowman and Dolph Ziggler

That was a huge win Bruan Strowman, Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler got over The Shield on Raw.
That was a huge win Bruan Strowman, Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler got over The Shield on Raw.

A win is a big thing, but a win against The Shield in six man tag team action is an even bigger thing. In fact, there are very few superstars in WWE that have successfully beaten The Shield in six man tag team action, which makes what Drew McIntyre, Dolph Ziggler and Braun Strowman did last week on Raw all the more surprising.

With that being said, a win is also a sign that WWE is planning on splitting The Shield up in the near future. Why else would they decide to give McIntyre, Strowman and Ziggler a win so early over The Shield? Furthermore, why was the finish used to set up Ambrose walking out on his brethren if this wasn't the plan WWE was going with?

If nothing else, a loss is a huge sign of WWE wanting to break up The Shield. Not only is that evident by the fact that the company wants someone other than The Shield to benefit from The Shield reunion, which seemed to happen on Raw last week, but also by how the loss by Hounds of Justice plays into the upcoming breakup.

#1 Time Crunch

WWE needs to break up The Shield soon in order to prepare Roman Reigns for WrestleMania 35.
WWE needs to break up The Shield soon in order to prepare Roman Reigns for WrestleMania 35.

Believe it or not, the biggest indicator that The Shield will break up is the timing of it all. For example, rumours indicate that The Shield will be breaking up around The Survivor Series pay per view, which will take place November 18th. With that in mind and the seeds that WWE has already planted with the storyline, it seems like this will be the case.

Another thing that shows The Shield will break up around this time is the fact that WWE apparently wants to do Roman Reigns versus The Rock at WrestleMania 35, which is going to take some time to build. Unfortunately for WWE, that means that there isn't much time between The supposed Shield break up in November and the build to Mania.

In the end, this most likely means that The Shield reunion has to happen sometime around November, which will thus leave WWE enough time to script the breakup, have the fall out and give Reigns enough time to build for his feud with The Rock. It also gives Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins to find a role for WrestleMania 35, which is also important.

If nothing else, WWE can't realistically keep teasing The Shield break up for too much longer and still have time to build up Roman Reigns versus The Rock at WrestleMania 35. That means the break up needs to happen sooner rather than later or The WWE will risk overlap in the storylines that could cause confusion.
