#4 Shane McMahon playing the perfect foil to Owens' character
Back in the days of the Attitude Era, Stone Cold Steve Austin was the face of the company. He reached that status with his savageness (more on that later) and also the fact that he had a major storyline beef with the boss Vince McMahon.
For many, their feud was the greatest ever in the history of WWE and the company seem to be using the same template for the Shane-Owens feud. Not only have they picked Owens to be the fans’ voice, they have pitted him against an evil McMahon.
Given the outpour of criticism, Shane McMahon has been positioned as the biggest heel in WWE right now. Taking a stand against such an authority figure automatically elevates Owens to top babyface territory. He is clearly being counted on to generate the massive pops reminiscent of Stone Cold's era, and so far he is doing a good job.
