Is this WWE's way of separating Liv Morgan from the storyline?

Liv Morgan shocked the WWE Universe when she revealed herself to be Lana's secret lover. While many thought it would be a launching point for her, that didn't turn out to be the case. Sadly, she is quickly becoming an afterthought again in the grand scheme of things and has even started a feud with Ruby Riott.

While there is nothing wrong with WWE's decision to have Ruby Riott attack Morgan, especially since it will set up an interesting feud between the two, it seems to be a sign of the company backpedaling on the Lashley-Lana storyline. Furthermore, it seems to show that the company is trying to get Morgan set up for something else when they ultimately pull the trigger on the love triangle.

At least that way, Morgan's return isn't wasted, the WWE Universe gets a personal feud between two former Riott squad members, and the company can start to figure out a way to break up Lana and Lashley.
