While it isn't much, Roman Reigns and Goldberg do have a bit of backstory that WWE can play off of. The two met for a face off weeks before their scheduled WrestleMania 36 championship match, which Roman Reigns was eventually forced to drop out of due to the pandemic.

Not only does this give WWE a chance to finally pull the trigger on the battle of the spears, but it also gives fans a match that was denied them a year ago. While some fans would probably prefer the match to still not happen, one has to remember that the story dynamics are quite different this time around.
There are a lot of options WWE can go with in this scenario, and the two men having history with each other definitely helps things. Where the company ultimately goes with this idea, if they do at all, remains to be seen. But there is the potential for something very special with this rivalry. Maybe even one that goes on to help define Roman Reigns' career as a whole.
