5 statistics that prove Brock Lesnar will win at The Royal Rumble?

Brock Lesnar defends his WWE Universal Championship at The Royal Rumble this weekend against Braun Strowman and Kane in perhaps one of the biggest tests of his lengthy Championship reign.

Lesnar has been in incredible form over the past few months ever since he managed to dethrone Goldberg for the title back at WrestleMania 33.

Even though Braun Strowman has been the one who has all of the momentum heading into their match and he looks to be the one most likely to walk out with the title on Sunday night, it seems that there are a number of statistics that back The Beast to once again retain his Championship when the pressure is on.

#5 Lesnar is one of only two superstars to have pinned Braun Strowman

Brock Lesnar steps into the ring with The Monster Among Men on Sunday night, but he will be quite content in the knowledge that he has pinned Braun Strowman before. Lesnar pinned Strowman back at No Mercy when he challenged him for his Universal title in a match, which the former UFC Heavyweight Champion won convincingly.

Strowman has only been pinned by two men (the other one being Roman Reigns) and has been undefeated in singles matches since he was pinned by Lesnar last year. It seems that the odds will definitely once again be in the University of Minnesota product's favour on Sunday night.

#4 The Beast Incarnate hasn't lost on pay-per-view since the 2017 Royal Rumble

Brock Lesnar may not defend the Universal Championship very often, but it seems that when he does he is successful. Despite everything that WWE has thrown at The Beast over the past year, he has always come out victorious.

The last time Lesnar lost on pay-per-view was back at The Royal Rumble last year when he was eliminated from the match by Goldberg. Since then he has been able to defeat the WCW legend for the Championship and brush aside all challengers, including Strowman last year at No Mercy.

Lesnar has also battled Samoa Joe at Great Balls of Fire, AJ Styles at Survivor Series and even took on Roman Reigns, Joe and Strowman in a fatal four-way match for his Championship back at SummerSlam.

#3 This current reign is the longest of Lesnar's career

Brock Lesnar will have held the Universal Championship for 301 days on Sunday night, which is not only the longest reign in the history of the belt that was only introduced at SummerSlam back in 2016 but also the longest World title reign of his career.

In the past 25 years, this is only the fourth world title reign that has lasted more than 300 days and it is second only to CM Punk's 434-day Championship reign that ended back in 2013. Coincidentally, it was the 2013 Royal Rumble that saw the end of Punk's Championship reign as well, when he was defeated by The Rock.

Given that there are rumours plans for Brock at WrestleMania where he would have held the Championship for a year, this could be a hint that he will retain on Sunday night.

#4 Lesnar has never been pinned or submitted at The Royal Rumble

Brock Lesnar has appeared at The Royal Rumble five times and, with the exception of his appearance in The Royal Rumble match last year where he was quickly eliminated, he is undefeated in matches outside of the eponymous battle royal.

Lesnar made his first appearance at The Royal Rumble back in 2003 where he defeated The Big Show, the following year he defeated Bob Holly before he then took a 10-year hiatus and returned in 2014 and was once again able to brutalise The Big Show.

In 2015, he appeared as part of the show and defended the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against John Cena and Mr Money In The Bank Seth Rollins in a triple threat match where he once again came out victorious.

Brock Lesnar has defended his Championship in some incredible matches over the past few months, but it seems that before he was the Universal Champion, he was able to defend his WWE World Heavyweight Championship at The Royal Rumble back in 2015 in a triple threat match.

Lesnar defended against Seth Rollins and John Cena in the match three years ago, where he pinned Rollins to retain his Championship. It is also worth noting that there have been three triple threat World Championship matches at The Royal Rumble in its history and the Champion has always retained their title.

Brock Lesnar retained back in 2015, Daniel Bryan retained against Big Show and Mark Henry back in 2012 inside a steel cage and JBL retained his Championship against The Big Show and Kurt Angle at the event back in 2005.
