The extensive criticism towards the infamous Rusev-Lana-Bobby Lashley storyline might have allowed WWE to fetch good numbers on YouTube, but it has definitely not been good for Rusev’s overall character development. It was indeed weird to see him return to television only to see him find out about his wife’s affair with his peer.

This story definitely brought the attention of the fans to Rusev as they were once again screaming ‘Rusev Day’ in unison. However, the creative then refrained from capitalizing on that momentum and did not involve him in good storylines. Rusev has displayed an incredible work ethic but for some reason, has never gotten the push that he deserves.

Amidst the series of wrong decisions with respect to Rusev, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him asking for his release from the company if this practice continues. He is a talented wrestler who can become the top priority of other promotions if he becomes a free agent. Therefore, the creative need to come up with wise booking decisions for the ‘Bulgarian Brute’ because losing him would be a huge mistake.
