The first episode of SmackDown on FOX ended with Brock Lesnar defeating Kofi Kingston for the WWE Championship in a match lasting just nine seconds.

Following the dominant victory, Lesnar was confronted by Cain Velasquez (w/Rey Mysterio), who charged down to the ring and immediately began to brawl with his former UFC rival.

Since then, it has been confirmed that Velasquez has signed a multi-year deal with WWE, while a WWE Championship match between the two men has been announced for the Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia on October 31.

Unlike Tyson Fury, whose match with Braun Strowman appears to be a one-off, Velasquez is now officially a member of the WWE roster, which presumably means he will be assigned to RAW or SmackDown in the near future.

Given that he is feuding with Lesnar – SmackDown’s top Champion – right now, it is safe to assume that confirmation of Velasquez moving to the blue brand will soon be made official.

It might be a little underwhelming if the former UFC star is revealed as the “blockbuster” trade, but his roster move has to be confirmed at some point!
