For many wrestlers of today, they will have grown up watching the WWE.

The biggest wrestling promotion in the world, the WWE is synonymous with the biggest names in wrestling, such as Hulk Hogan, The Rock 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin, and John Cena.

So for a young aspiring wrestler to make it to the McMahon-based promotion, and earn the title of Superstar, must be a dream come true.

If being a Superstar is a dream come true, then getting inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame must be indescribable.

And yet, there have been plenty of Superstars over the years, who for one reason or another, turned down the spot in the prestigious group.

Here are five Superstars who turned down a spot in the WWE Hall of Fame, and their reasons for turning the company down.

#5: The Honky Tonk Man

One of the most iconic stars of the Hulkamania era, the Honky Tonk Man is perhaps best known for his record-setting reign as the Intercontinental Champion, holding the title for 454 days, a record still held to this day.

As one of the biggest stars of his time, it is frankly shocking that the former champion has not been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, though turned down the position in 2010.

Being contacted by WWE shortly before WrestleMania 26, Honky told Ring Post Radio that he turned the offer down, because he had already made commitments to appear at a convention.

Whilst he has also criticized the WWE over the years, a deal between the two parties has been made, and Honky will be inducted this year.

#4: Scott Steiner

Big Poppa Pump. The Genetic Freak. A master of Math. Whatever you want to call Scott Steiner, fans aren't calling him a WWE Hall of Famer.

A former WCW World Heavyweight Champion, Steiner has held gold in both the WWE, and TNA as well.

But when offered a WWE Legends contract (which would presumably include a Hall of Fame induction) Steiner was quick to turn it down, he revealed to WhatCulture.

"WWE offered me a Legends, my lawyer looked at it, and it's basically illegal," Steiner told WhatCulture.

In the same interview, Steiner did not hold back in his criticism of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, making a further offer very unlikely.

When asked if he would ever return to the WWE, Steiner said it would depend on how big the truck of money would be.

#3: Batista

The Animal is back in the WWE, but not as a member of the Hall of Fame.

Returning just over a week ago on RAW, Batista ambushed Ric Flair, who had been celebrating his 70th birthday, before directly addressing his former mentor Triple H.

But with an incredible career, including two Royal Rumble victories and multiple WrestleMania main events, many have wondered why the Animal isn't a member of the Hall of Fame.

Speaking to British newspaper The Mirror, Batista said it came down to age, as he feel he would only go in when he felt his career was over.

With the Animal back in the WWE, and looking at facing Triple H at WrestleMania 35, it seems that there is plenty of years before the former World Heavyweight Champion takes his spot in the Hall of Fame.

#2: Sabu

Sabu's time in the WWE may have come and gone without little event, but before he was losing to John Cena at Vengeance 2006, the Superstar was impressing everyone in the original ECW.

A former ECW World Champion, the homocidial, suicidal, genocidal, death-defying star wowed Hardcore fans with his ability to absorb punishment and dish it out.

And though it's unclear whether he has been given an official offer, Sabu has said he would turn it down, as he doesn't want to be associated with the Hall of Fame.

Speaking to WrestleTalk TV, Sabu said that the elite group was 'fake', and described the Hall of Fame as just a money-spinner.

"Baseball Hall of Fame, they put the best in, they don't put someone who sang the national anthem, or someone who did one appearance. It's the fakest Hall of Fame I ever heard of."

#1: 'Macho Man' Randy Savage

One of the most iconic stars of all time, no one could deny that Randy Savage deserved a spot in the WWE Hall of Fame.

A former WWF Champion, Savage would later hold the WCW Championship, and remained a large part of the Georgia-based promotion until its demise in 2001.

As it was collapsing, Savage was offered a spot in the WWE Hall of Fame, though things didn't pan out.

Speaking on the Inside the Ropes podcast, the late 'Mean' Gene Okerlund said that Savage did not want to be associated with the WWE again, and quashed rumors that McMahon had wanted to veto the Macho King entering the Hall of Fame.

After Savage passed though, the former World Champion was inducted posthumously in 2015, being represented by his brother Lanny 'The Genius' Poffo.
