5 Surprises that could take place in WWE in February

So much could happen in this critical month for WWE

The Royal Rumble has set the stage for what should be a really exciting sequence of events leading up to WrestleMania 35. The card is shaping up nicely, and with Elimination Chamber scheduled mid-way through the month, one can only assume that February will be a very exciting month for members of the WWE Universe.

I daresay that we should expect a lot of surprises in February. I've tried to list a few of them in this article. Let me know if you can think of more surprises for the month in the comments.

WWE has the chance to get it right with some good booking. If they do, the mass exodus of talent that is happening right now can be significantly curbed.

And throwing in a good old fashioned surprise or two does not hurt.

#5 Balor becomes the Intercontinental Champion

This is almost a certainty the way things are currently shaping up
This is almost a certainty the way things are currently shaping up

Finn Balor had the support of the WWE Universe when he went in to wage war against the significantly larger Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble. Despite his great showing, Balor fell short and could not topple The Beast Incarnate. But the following night on RAW, he had a showdown with Lio Rush and the current Intercontinental Champion, Lashley!

Any match with Brock Lesnar is a rough night at the office for the opponent because of just how physical it is. Because Balor came up short in this massive title match, I think he will be rewarded and thrust into the Intercontinental Championship situation very soon indeed. I have a feeling that he'll emerge victorious at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view.

WWE obviously wants to retain Balor with so many talents leaving the company right now. Rewarding him with a title is the best way.

#4 Ronda Rousey goes heel

Rousey needs to embrace the boos and go heel
Rousey needs to embrace the boos and go heel

We saw Ronda Rousey get all jittery and tongue-tied when she encountered the Becky Lynch phenomenon. Sometimes, it is hard to remember just how new she is to the business. Ronda Rousey only made her sports entertainment debut at WrestleMania 34 last year.

There is no way that the audience is going to boo Ronda Rousey over Becky Lynch right now. Lynch is on a red hot streak that should take her all the way to WrestleMania 35 and beyond, possibly as the face of the whole company. And do we really know if Rousey will stay with the company beyond WrestleMania 35?

Rousey needs to bring out her inner heel and tap into her dark side to make the encounter with Becky Lynch a lot more interesting, going forward. Maybe Lynch has a match against Asuka for the SmackDown Women's Championship and Rousey ends up costing her the big win. This will make the Rousey-Lynch feud ever more heated!

#3 Charlotte Flair gets added to the WrestleMania 35 main event

Could the WrestleMania 35 main event get even bigger?
Could the WrestleMania 35 main event get even bigger?

It's almost a certainty that Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch will main event WrestleMania 35, isn't it? I mean Lynch pretty much mentioned it on SmackDown Live this week, and I'm sure it was a planned move.

This is a huge deal for the women and it shows us just how far they have come, over so many years. But I have a feeling that Charlotte Flair may just be added to this already huge match.

And this is because Charlotte Flair has been the most consistent performer in the Women's Division for the last few years, and is already a 7-time Champion. While a lot of people may not be okay with her entering the match, do not forget that she has history with Rousey.

This is not a prediction. This is a spoiler.

#2 Batista returns to confront Triple H

Could the seeds of this dream match finally be planted?
Could the seeds of this dream match finally be planted?

We had seen the signs as far back as SmackDown 1000. Triple H and Batista had a face off in the ring when Evolution reunited for the night. It was clear that the two men were finally going to have the WrestleMania dream match at long last.

And then Triple H was injured in the Tag Team match at Crown Jewel. It cast a shadow on whether or not this match would actually take place. Triple H has been cleared to compete by all accounts and I'm almost certain that we'll see this match take place at the grandest stage of them all.

Of course, the WWE Universe needs to be reminded of this face off again. So maybe Batista returns for one night only and gets in Triple H's face, setting up the match.

#1 Dean Ambrose gets destroyed by Nia Jax

Could WWE have Jax destroy Ambrose?
Could WWE have Jax destroy Ambrose?

We know that WWE has eased up its policy when it comes to inter-gender matches. Nia Jax had quite the showing at the Royal Rumble when she took out R-Truth to enter the 30-man match. She even had a little face off with Dean Ambrose on RAW. I'd not be surprised if WWE decides to punish Ambrose on the way out through Nia Jax.

I know that a feud with Triple H has been teased. There was a lot of heat for the feud from the WWE Universe as well, but if Triple H is taking Batista on, then there's no point. Unless Ambrose is not really leaving and this is a storyline.

The fact of the matter is that I would not be shocked at all if WWE had Jax pin Ambrose before his departure if this isn't a work. He had a poor showing in the Rumble match as well.

Do you think WWE may punish Dean Ambrose in this manner?
