If you were to claim that when 2019 begun that Bray Wyatt would be either WWE or Universal Champion and the most popular wrestler in the company before year's end, you would be lying. His rise as The Fiend is the most surprising moment of 2019 in the WWE.

After Starrcade 2018, Bray Wyatt disappeared from WWE television. It was a shame to see such an amazing performer vanish from the main shows completely. But years of the cult leader losing nearly every major feud, certainly took its toll. He simply wasn’t believable as a threat anymore. Who knew his return would be lead by a bunch of creepy puppets?

After weeks of seeing those puppets, the Firefly Fun House debuted on April 22nd. It portrayed Bray Wyatt as a children’s show host. Anyone paying close attention could tell that something wasn’t right about this Fun House. It became the highlight of RAW with Mercy the Buzzard, Ramblin’ Rabbit, and Abby the Witch getting more screen time then most performers in the company. When we found out Bray secret in May of 2019, The Fiend was born. It was an amazing and scary creation. The mask Wyatt wore was created by the greats of the horror industry. Bray Wyatt had reinvented himself and in a truly amazing way.

The Fiend had a great debut against Finn Balor, defeating him at SummerSlam. Then the curious decision was made to hotshot The Fiend against Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship. After some controversy, it finally led to The Fiend winning the Universal Championship on Halloween from Seth Rollins. As we enter 2020, it is remarkable to think how far one amazing performer has come in such a short time.
