Dakota Kai was a big help on Sunday night.

At NXT TakeOver: In Your House, it seemed the match between Ember Moon and Raquel Gonzalez was easily the most predictable on the entire card. Raquel Gonzalez has been a dominant champion since winning the NXT Women’s Championship over Io Shirai at Stand & Deliver. It seemed likely she would defeat Ember Moon and continue her reign. But the surprising thing was she wouldn’t have kept her title without some major help.

The title match was a back and forth twelve minute affair at NXT TakeOver: In Your House. Moon took a tough and believable beating from the larger Gonzalez throughout the match. But one important moment will stand out as possibly important going forward for the NXT Women’s division.

Ember Moon was able to gain the advantage and hit her Eclipse finisher. She quickly went for the pin. She would have got the victory if it wasn’t for the fact Dakota Kai put Raquel’s foot on the rope at the last possible moment. Gonzalez was able to recover and retain her title.

It brings up an important question after NXT Takeover In Your House. Will Dakota Kai bring up the fact that she was the sole reason her friend kept the title? It seems to be only a matter of time before Kai eventually turns on her friend.
