After some outside interference from Chyna, Billy Gunn defeated The Rock on Monday Night RAW

The Rock suffered another suprising defeat on Monday Night RAW in July 1999 against D-Generation X member Billy Gunn.

The match began in the usual, fast-paced style the WWE Universe had come to expect during the Attitude Era with The Rock getting the majority of the early offense. However, Billy Gunn quickly gained control, hitting The Great One with a variety of power moves and dropping The Rock across the ringside guardrail.

The closing moments of the match saw The Rock seemingly on his way to victory, hitting Billy Gunn with a stiff DDT. However, Billy Gunn's fellow D-Generation X teammate Chyna leapt up onto the apron to distract the referee. This didn't go DX's way though as The Rock sent Gunn crashing into Chyna. Gunn was then met by a Rock Bottom.

The Rock then set up Billy Gunn for the People's Elbow to finish the match. However, as The Rock hit the ropes to build momentum, he was met with a vicious chairshot from the Ninth Wonder of The World. This allowed Billy Gunn to hit the Famouser and pin fall for a shock victory.
