According to data from profightdb.com, AJ Styles has competed in 12 matches for the Intercontinental Championship since he joined WWE in January 2016.

You may not have seen any of them, though, as all 12 (three against Kevin Owens and nine against Dean Ambrose) took place at live events and the rivalries were never featured on Raw or SmackDown Live.

As we saw with Roman Reigns recently, and even with Styles last year, holding a secondary championship isn’t always a demotion and a reign with the IC title could potentially lead to “The Phenomenal One” becoming a Grand Slam champion one day.
