WWE utilized Ohio Valley Wrestling as its developmental territory in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Names such as Brock Lesnar, John Cena, Batista and Randy Orton all began their WWE careers in OVW. Damien Sandow was also assigned to OVW in 2003 during that time period. When asked to recall his memories of OVW, Sandow admitted that many of the talents that trained at OVW in the mid-2000s are still close today.

"Lot of fun. Rip Rodgers' training is absolutely amazing. I think Rip's one of the best trainers out there. It's funny we took a picture at NWA, there's a bunch of us from OVW. The 2003 to 2005 era in OVW, we are all still very close. We have this weird bond between all of us and not a lot of people in developmental have that but we do. There's a very strange OVW family bond."

One of Damien Sandow's most memorable periods during his WWE career was his alliance with current AEW Executive Vice President Cody Rhodes.

Known as Team Rhodes Scholars, Sandow and Rhodes made quite the team before splitting on WWE television in 2013. The former WWE Superstar admitted that the duo never had a bad segment when they worked together:

"Cody and I, you know what as a team, we've both said this, we never had a bad outing. Whether we were doing a three segment match on RAW, an interview segment, like an entertaining segment. We never had a bad segment. Cody and I were a very, very good team.

As far as signing with All Elite Wrestling, Sandow said that he hasn't had any contact with AEW and is focused solely on NWA:

"It's funny everyone asks me that. But I've had zero contact with them, as far as I'm concerned I'm NWA."
