WWE's revival of ECW in the mid-2000s is often seen as a huge failure for the company. Despite the negative perception of the revival, Kevin Thorn revealed that he had a great time as a WWE Superstar on the brand:

"It was good. It was fun. I mean we were the married band of misfits at that time. I think they wanted it to fail. But we just kept having such a good time doing it and everything else that it was just fun," said Thorn.

The former ECW wrestler explained his thoughts on why the brand drew so poorly. According to Thorn, the WWE promotional budget was significantly smaller for the WWE ECW brand, meaning it was always going to be hard to attract a live audience:

"The biggest problem is, you get to the towns and most WWE house shows they'll have somebody that will go in and promote and get stuff done, get everybody on radio and do TV spots. A couple months into it, you started kind of hearing from those promotor stuff 'they only have us a $700 budget to promote this.' We're drawing 700 to 1000 in some of these stadiums and it's like 'if nobody knows it's here, what do you expect?'" Thorn added.

All Elite Wrestling is currently creating a huge buzz in the wrestling world after the success of All Out and the signings of CM Punk, Bryan Danielson and Adam Cole. When asked on his thoughts about AEW, Thorn admitted that he's seen a little of the product and has liked what he has seen:

"I watch AEW a little bit, here and there. I think they've got a great product. I'm not in the wrestling scene like I used to be by any means. I try to keep up. When you've got guys in my office who I didn't even know were wrestling fans came up to me on Monday and were like 'oh my god, did you see that pay-per-view?' and i'm like 'no' and they're like 'it was so awesome!'" Thorn said.

Thorn stated that he feels that the emergence of AEW is getting people talking about the industry once more, such as it was in the late 1990s:

"That tells me the wrestling business is getting people talking again. That's like when I joined the wrestling business, that's right at the time of the Monday Night Wars. You'd see people working out and they'd do their cardio right at that time and grab the TVs so they could watch WCW or RAW," admitted Thorn.
