5 things WWE could do in the Undertaker vs AJ Styles contract signing

AJ Styles versus The Undertaker. Who wins?
AJ Styles versus The Undertaker. Who wins?

AJ Styles and The Undertaker are set to sign a contract for a match at WrestleMania 36 and one has to wonder what the company has planned for the affair. In fact, with the days ticking down before The Show of Shows and Styles hinting that Undertaker should retire, there are a plethora of opportunities for the company to explore next Monday night.

With that being said and a polarizing contract signing only days away, here are five things that could happen when AJ Styles and Undertaker meet face to face on Raw next week. As always, let us know your thoughts in the comments below and be sure to tell us who you think will come out on top at WrestleMania 36.

#5 Psychological warfare

WWE needs to play up The Undertaker's
WWE needs to play up The Undertaker's "magical powers"!

It's no secret that The Undertaker is the master of the parlor trick and it could be a missed opportunity to not showcase it during the contract signing. He could conjure up lightning to strike the ring, for example, or even do his signature spot of appearing out of nowhere after the lights go out. WWE would be well-served to play up The Deadman's supernatural character to spice up what is likely to be the final segment of next week's show.

Not only will this help to highlight the contrast between The Undertaker of old and the shell of a man that AJ Styles now sees him as, it will also create a feeling that anything can happen. Maybe Undertaker could even bring a coffin to the ring and have an AJ Styles lookalike laying inside, something he's done before, most famously with Diesel in 1996. The point is to get the mind games going in full force. AJ could turn that against him, in an even bigger twist -- it once happened to 'Taker himself, back in 2005.

In the end, a large part of this storyline revolves around The Undertaker not being who he used to be and the company should at least try to present some contrast with that, showing that The Undertaker, be it in desperation or in a show of power, is trying to combat AJ Styles' harsh words.

#4 Make it look like Styles has a real shot to win at 'Mania

WWE really needs to create some kind of doubt around this matchup.
WWE really needs to create some kind of doubt around this matchup.

AJ Styles versus Undertaker at WrestleMania 36 is a dream match of epic proportions, but is there really any doubt about who is going to come out victorious? The Undertaker is still a larger than life entity for WWE and AJ Styles is a made man -- win or lose, Styles is a huge Superstar and a guaranteed Hall of Famer once it's all said and done.

That's why WWE really needs to use this contract signing to create some doubt about whether or not Undertaker is the guaranteed winner. Whether that be by AJ Styles finally getting the upper hand on The Deadman physically (on his own or through an ambush by The O.C.), it needs to at least look possible that Undertaker may lose come WrestleMania.

AJ Styles' phenomenal record aside, it's pretty obvious that the WWE Universe is still firm in their belief that he can't defeat The Undertaker and that needs to change. To avoid making the match nothing more than a predictable midcard showcase of The Undertaker, the company needs to create at least some level of doubt. Both men deserve to have a match that feels like it truly means something, and if the outcome is never in doubt, how special could it really be?

#3 Give Styles the upper hand

It's time for AJ Styles to get the upper hand on The Undertaker.
It's time for AJ Styles to get the upper hand on The Undertaker.

The Undertaker has laid waste to AJ Styles every time the two have shared a ring together, but how much longer can the company keep going with that? Styles' white hot promo on RAW this past Monday was a very strong statement -- it would be an even bigger statement for him to say some of those words to The Undertaker's face. It would also be extremely helpful for AJ to hand back a receipt for some of the physical brutality The Deadman has bestowed upon him.

That leads right back into the discussion of 'creating doubt'. Undertaker is all but guaranteed to win on April 5th, right? If WWE builds it right, maybe not.

A one-sided storyline is just no fun and that's really what this has been so far. All the pieces are there to do something brilliant, but WWE appears hesitant to let Styles get his hands on Undertaker. Hopefully WWE does something to rectify this problem and throw AJ a bone.

#2 Play up Undertaker's mortality

AJ Styles absolutely destroyed The Undertaker on the microphone this week on Monday Night RAW and fans sat with baited breath to see if The Deadman would respond. Unfortunately, The Undertaker ultimately decided to stay silent that night, but just imagine what that could all mean for next week's edition of RAW.

Think about it! AJ Styles can now say everything he said on Monday and more directly to The Undertaker's face during the contract signing, which will gain him immense heat. It will also work to continue raising the tension between the two Superstars and maybe even create some of that Road to WrestleMania magic that the company is trying to achieve here.

If nothing else, no one has ever poked a hole in Undertaker's storied lore to this extent and it's a big deal that Styles is doing it now. Furthermore, it instantly creates a situation where the storyline becomes increasingly personal, which will only help to invest fans further into their eventual match at WrestleMania 36. The Undertaker is a man. We all know it -- put it out on the table and make sure people have to acknowledge it.

#1 Put Undertaker's career on the line

Is it time for The Undertaker to hang up his boots for real?
Is it time for The Undertaker to hang up his boots for real?

While the WWE Universe seems to always have a hankering for an Undertaker match at WrestleMania, that trope is starting to get overly predictable. Beyond that, Undertaker hasn't been able to put together a great match for quite some time and is very limited in what he can do inside the ring.

With that being said and AJ Styles mentioning that The Undertaker should have retired by now, one has to imagine that this will be a plot point in their storyline. In fact, between the way Styles aggressively went after The Undertaker on the microphone and joked that this wife is controlling him, this really seems like the direction they're going.

In the end, Styles made it personal by resorting to these tactics and while some might see it as just a chance to gain cheap heat, there is so much potential there. Of course one of the biggest possibilities would be Styles retiring The Undertaker, just imagine how big of a moment that would be for everyone involved. We say this every year, but maybe, just maybe, this year is the time.
