5 things that must not happen at WWE Stomping Grounds

WWE presents a brand new PPV, Stomping Grounds, this week, and the lineup for the PPV is stacked with several high profile matches. Although the matchups looks promising on paper, most of them are either rematches from WrestleMania or Super ShowDown.

Some of the matchups include Baron Corbin fighting for the Universal Championship against Seth Rollins in the presence of a special guest referee. Kofi Kingston will once again defend his WWE Championship against the "ShowOff" Dolph Ziggler.

WWE programming has been under the scrutiny in the past few months. However, WWE has constantly delivered decent PPV shows, and that trend should continue this Sunday.

We look at five booking options that WWE must avoid to ensure that Stomping Grounds isn't stomped by the critics and WWE Universe.

#5 Alexa Bliss wins the Smackdown Women's Championship

Alexa Bliss should not win yet again against Bayley
Alexa Bliss should not win yet again against Bayley

One of the major flaws of WWE in the past few months has been the introduction of Wild Card Rule. The Wild Card Rule has effectively put an end to the brand split, resulting in Smackdown becoming a fallout show for the things that happened on RAW.

Alexa Bliss, a RAW Superstar, is challenging for the Smackdown Women's Championship against Bayley. Bayley won the title last month after cashing in her Money in the Bank contract against Charlotte Flair.

If Bliss were to win the Smackdown Championship, it would be yet another nail in the coffin for the dying Brand Split. Alexa Bliss is part of a very thin Women's roster on RAW, and WWE must keep her on the red brand itself.

With Smackdown moving to FOX this October, WWE must ensure they keep Smackdown as fresh as possible, and RAW superstars winning Smackdown Championship is exactly the opposite of that thought.

#4 Samoa Joe loses the US Championship

Samoa Joe and Ricochet is an exciting matchup but Joe needs to retain

Samoa Joe is one of the best wrestlers in WWE today and is finally getting his due with a proper run with the US Championship. His promo skills are by far the best on the roster, and a feud with Ricochet is an exciting prospect.

Ricochet is immensely talented and deserves several championship reigns in the future. However, giving Ricochet the title at this point will not be the right decision and will hamper Samoa Joe's credibility.

Samoa Joe and Ricochet is a pairing not a single soul would have predicted, but it makes for an interesting rivalry nonetheless.

#3 Big E turns on Kofi Kingston

Five years ago, in June, a legendary stable was broken up. Rumors of Big E turning on the New Day are circling around, with a singles push for the immensely talented Big E.

New Day is one of the more interesting acts on the main roster and have tremendous rapport as a group. Breaking them up for a match between Kofi and Big E at Summerslam sounds exciting, but it is not the right time .

#2 Roman Reigns loses due to Shane McMahon interference yet again

Roman Reigns should not lose because of Shane McMahon

It is rumored that Shane McMahon could be next in line for the WWE Championship, currently in the possession of Kofi Kingston. Shane's wins over Roman Reigns and the Miz in the last two months are a clear indication that WWE intends to do something big with Shane McMahon.

Roman Reigns faces Drew McIntyre in a rematch of their WrestleMania match in April. WWE has paired up Drew McIntyre with Shane McMahon as his lackey, and Drew's singles push has stalled once again.

Drew McIntyre deserves a clean victory on the main roster, and defeating the Big Dog Roman Reigns will be a perfect way to catapult McIntyre into the main event. A cheap win for Drew over Reigns will be boring and not the ideal decision.

Either Roman Reigns should win clean and put an end to this saga, or Drew McIntyre wins clean to increase his credibility on the main roster.

#1 Brock Lesnar is announced as the Special Guest Referee

Seth Rollins had a mental breakdown this week, as he beat up several superstars with a chair on RAW and Smackdown Live. He spared no one, and that resulted in Corbin still waiting for a proper Guest Referee for their Universal Championship.

WWE could turn towards the Beast to stand-in as the Referee for Seth Rollins and Baron Corbin matchup. Brock Lesnar with his Money in the Bank briefcase will definitely spice things up, but fans do not want to see Lesnar hold the Universal Championship once again.

A superstar like AJ Styles should be chosen to guest referee the matchup, as he has history with both Seth Rollins and Baron Corbin in recent memory.

AJ Styles would be the perfect choice, and he could even turn heel by attacking Seth Rollins and reuniting the Club with Gallows and Anderson.
