5 Things that should happen at WWE Backlash 2018

The PPV takes place May 6th

Almost a week removed from the 'Greatest Royal Rumble' PPV, WWE will be having another one on May 6th. The show is this year's edition of Backlash.

WWE have hyped the PPV as the first 'co-branded' show as every PPV going forward will feature both RAW and SmackDown Superstars.

Eight matches have been confirmed for the event this weekend. Let's take a look at a few things that should happen at the event.

#5 Carmella Retains

She recently won the title

This Sunday at Backlash, Carmella will face Charlotte for the SmackDown Women's championship.

Recently, Carmella cashed in her Money in the Bank on Charlotte to win her first Women's championship.

Charlotte was great as champion, but WWE should really consider keeping the title on Carmella right now. She should be able to have a lengthy title run just like Charlotte had.

There may be a chance WWE book Carmella as someone who somehow ends up winning. On paper, you would think Charlotte will win in easy fashion, but Carmella will do something to end up winning.

We may see interference from Payton Royce and Billie Kay. It would be smart for WWE to pair Carmella up with them. She could have Royce and Kay do her dirty work.

#4 Daniel Bryan Wins

Daniel Bryan will face Big Cass

After a few weeks of build up, Daniel Bryan will face Big Cass at Backlash on Sunday. Granted, both men do need the win to continue to a hopeful push, but Bryan should win this match.

Now, WWE might not let him win by a Pinfall or Submission, it will probably be by DQ. Cass will get angry because Bryan isn't giving up, so he will retreat to using weapons to put him down. But it will cost him the match as well.

WWE may set up another match between these two. If they do, it's likely that it will end up on a SmackDown than another PPV.

#3 Rollins moves past the Miz

Rollins defends his title at Backlash

Announced shortly after WrestleMania, the rematch between The Miz and Seth Rollins will happen at Backlash.

Rollins has a lot of momentum right now. He just won a ladder match at the 'Greatest Royal Rumble' PPV last Friday.

Rollins should move on to a feud with Finn Balor or anyone else. As great as the Miz has been with the I.C title, he could use something different for a while.

Do expect this match to end up being one of the highlights of the night as both men can put on a great showing for the fans.

#2 Samoa Joe beats Roman Reigns clean

Samoa Joe faces Roman Reigns

Since his return, Samoa Joe has been fantastic to watch. Great promos and matches every week. It's clear WWE likes him, so let the man win.

Reigns should go on a losing streak for a while. After losing to Lesnar twice in a row, Reigns should keep losing until WWE decides for the two to face again. Then build Reigns back up.

If and when that happens, Reigns should lose for the time being. Joe is a great candidate to do that.

The match should end with a clean pin or Joe choking Reigns out. Doing the submission finish will make Joe's finisher look even more dangerous.

#1 New WWE Champion

Nakamura faces Styles once again for the WWE Championship

This will be the third match between Styles and Nakamura. Styles won the first match and the second ended in a double count out. Third times a charm and Nakamura should finally win the big one.

Much like Joe, Nakamura has knocked it out the park as the bad guy. He's been great so far and having the title will hopefully make it even better.

The previous two encounters have been decent, but not memorable matches. Hopefully, with Nakamura winning, they finally give us the 'Wrestle Kingdom' quality match we have all been waiting for. It would've been better at WrestleMania than a B-show PPV, but what can you do?
