5 things that Roman Reigns needs to change in WWE

Reigns needs a lot of changes

Oh, Roman. It’s been over two years now since his monster push into the main event began, and here we are in the weeks following WrestleMania 33 with still no idea where he’s going to go next. At the moment, he’s off selling an injury from the one and only Braun Strowman, but it’s only a matter of time before he returns to our television screens.

So when he does, we want to see some alterations to his character on a week to week basis. Obviously, what we say isn’t going to matter all too much in the grand scheme of the company, but we’d like to think that some of our thoughts and hopes resonate with the majority of WWE Universe members.

It's funny really because the impression that most people get is that 90% of fans despise Roman as a performer when that just isn’t true. From an in-ring standpoint he has great matches, but when the company decide to do something like have him beat The Undertaker clean in the main event of WrestleMania, then the complaints are entirely justified.

With that being said, here are five things that Roman Reigns needs to change in WWE.

#1 The vest/Theme song

The vest is very out of place

Look, when The Shield were still running riot in a WWE ring, the vests made sense. It fit their namesake, they looked like a brotherhood, and it fit their personas during the group’s original run. Unfortunately when the three split, Reigns seemed to be stuck with all of the most negative parts of the group in the divorce.

Wearing a vest to protect yourself seems like an incredibly heelish thing to do, and when you put that alongside his lumbering theme music, it makes things even worse. Honestly, is there a duller song in professional wrestling today? We believe the answer to be no, and fans around the world tend to agree as they sigh when Roman’s music hits the speakers.

We stay on his look for this next entry.

#2 The facial hair

Reigns looked like a badass

We get it, they wanted him to look like Taker for the feud going into Mania – but can we get rid of that horrendous goatee and focus on Roman growing a full on beard? If you go back and look at when he returned following his suspension, The Big Dog seemed like an utter badass with that beard in comparison to what he looked like before.

He doesn’t necessarily need to turn heel because of it, but it’d give his character an extra edge that he didn’t have before. Maybe it would lead to more of a tweener role for him going forward, and at this point, we can’t understand why WWE wouldn’t give it a go considering the lack of success they’ve had with him as a babyface.

Sufferin’ succotash.

#3 Mic skills

Sigh...

When Roman gets going on the mic, he’s one of the most capable performers on the stick in the entire company: but that oh so rarely happens. The company cuts him off at the knees with these boring and drawn out promos that don’t even make that much sense, with Roman just coming off as incredibly arrogant throughout.

If you look at him outside of the ring in interviews with the media, he seems way more laid back and charismatic than a lot of people give him credit for. If you just let that leash off for a while and allow him to show us what he can do, then the fans may gradually start to get behind him in an ironic sort of way.give him credit for. If you just let that leash off for a while and allow him to show us what he can do, then the fans may gradually start to get behind him in an ironic sort of way.

We all knew this was coming.

#4 Alignment

He must turn

Roman Reigns should’ve turned heel yesterday, two weeks ago, a month ago – hell even a year ago. At this stage, it’s honestly boring to repeat ourselves over and over again, and we’re kind of tired of Roman’s character because of it. Nobody can invest in him because when you look into the root of the problem, he just isn’t a likeable character.likeable character.

It’s a fact that has been evident for god knows how long, and nothing we say is going to do our statement justice. It’s just... boring. We’re bored of the same old routine week in and week out, with our mood fluctuating between the aforementioned emotion and anger. At this point, though, we’re just numb to the idea of him succeeding.

Superman punch, anyone?

#5 In-ring work

Reigns needs to pull a few things out of his bag

Reigns is a quality in-ring performer when he’s given a chance to shine, as has been evidenced by his performances against the likes of AJ Styles and Braun Strowman. Unfortunately he isn’t given that opportunity all too often, and instead, we get generic bouts that always end the same way – a Superman punch and a spear.

Obviously, that’s the case for a lot of top stars, but the spear is so protected that it was even selected to be the move that derailed the momentum of Strowman himself at Fastlane. We want to see Roman pull a few different things out of the bag, or he’s in danger of falling into a state of limbo when it comes to the uniqueness of his matches.
