5 things that Sasha Banks needs to change in WWE

The Boss has stagnated a little

Sasha Banks is one of the most popular WWE superstars on the roster today, and there’s a good reason for that. The former NXT Women’s Champion has built her way up from the developmental territory, and in the last twelve months, she has become a multiple time champion on the main roster.

Her success speaks for itself, and when it comes to some of the matches she’s had, there’s no arguing the potential she has to go on and become one of the greatest female wrestlers we’ve ever seen in the WWE. Despite this, there are some things that we think need to be altered if Sasha is to continue down this path. This is the part where you all get your knives and pitchforks out.

Sasha lives and breathes pro wrestling, so it’s no surprise that she’s more than willing to give her life for the cause or at least that’s how her work comes across. We’re confident that she’ll go on to create quite the legacy for herself in the company, and she’s already off to a great start, but no superstar is perfect, and that’s one of the reasons why this business will always continue to evolve.

With that being said, here are five things that Sasha Banks needs to change in WWE.

#1 Mic skills

Banks needs to refine her work on the mic

Sasha has bundles of charisma, and she shows that off on a regular basis, but it doesn’t come from her work on the mic. In fact, it’s probably one of the weakest areas of her game, and it’s one of the main reasons why her critics call her one of the most overrated performers on the roster. Those are their words, guys, not ours.

Subtlety is the key when it comes to Banks because if she tries to say too much or go into too much detail, she never actually succeeds in getting her point across. Short and concise sentences are the way to go for her or, better yet, you could put her with a manager. It may seem a little odd at first, but it would make sense coupled with the next point.

Speaking of which...

#2 Alignment

The time is ripe for a heel turn

Sasha Banks has most definitely run her course as a babyface, and we probably could’ve said the same thing six months ago. A lot of fans can relate to her, but when it comes to the actual character she’s portraying, it screams “cocky and overly confident heel”. If you don’t believe us, go and watch her work down in NXT.

The set up is there, and while there aren’t too many top babyfaces on Raw right now, you could always switch a heel over to the good side to even up the numbers. Everything Sasha does would be better if it were done as a heel, whether it is her in ring psychology or the attire that she wears. It seems like an obvious suggestion, but it’s a necessary one.

Please stop, Sasha.

#3 Overdoing it

Sasha is in danger of oversaturation

Working yourself to the bone is something that’s not only encouraged in WWE, but it’s also widely expected. Sasha Banks is someone who seems to take this a bit too literally, with her love for the business leading to the believability of her character taking a hit. Why? Because everything she’s been doing as of late just feels a little bit too forced.

Whether it’s wrestling too many dates or doing too many media appearances, Banks seems to be making up for her apparent exhaustion by going way too over the top with some of her in-ring and out of the ring traits. It’s like she’s trying to convince herself that this babyface role is exactly what she wants to be doing when it reality it just isn’t working that well.

Which leads us into our next point...

#4 High-risk moves

More psychology and fewer high-risk moves

For the love of god, Sasha, stop doing so many high-risk spots. Seriously, the woman has been throwing herself around like a rag doll for the 18 months which is clearly something that she’s taken over from her NXT days. This kind of thing has led to a couple of injuries for Banks, and if she isn’t careful, she’s going to end up with a broken neck.

It’s all well and good trying to improve the quality of your match, but if that means botching every other big move, then we’d rather she doesn’t do it. Banks is great at in ring psychology, and she’s a capable wrestler, so trying to do the impossible five nights a week is something that she doesn’t need to put herself through anymore.

Hey, we want some Bayley.

#5 Bayley connection

This friendship has run its course

Not only is Alexa Bliss the best female wrestler in WWE right now, but she’s also spot on when it comes to the friendship of Bayley and Sasha Banks. Down in NXT, the two ‘Average Janes’ had one of the best rivalries we’ve seen in years, and on the main roster, it’s just a matter of time until we get the third instalment of their trilogy.

Unfortunately, it's painfully obvious that a heel turn is coming, and it has been for a while. It’s as if the fourth wall has been broken and they’re saying, “we know that you know we aren’t really friends”. They need to make things feel more natural, and the best way to do that is by separating them for a few months until the big turn.
