5 things that shouldn't have happened on RAW - 14th May, 2018

Ent

WWE kick-started its UK tour with RAW airing from London. It was indeed surprising to learn that Roman Reigns will not be getting any more opportunities to qualify for the Money In The Bank Ladder match.

While Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins quite easily put on a performance that stole the show, it was disappointing to not see Jinder Mahal get his chance to qualify for the MITB Ladder Match.

This week's episode did well in showing Roman Reigns as this ruthless man who would go to any length just to get even or to show everyone that he has been messed with enough.

That being said, there were a few bookings or instances that felt out of place or could have been avoided. Here are 5 such bookings.

#5 Kurt Angle following the words of The Authority

Angle not retaliating what The Authority had to say was something new
Angle not retaliating what The Authority had to say was something new

On tonight's episode, Kurt Angle surprised us all by using the term "Best For Business" to justify a few decisions.

Angle was one who would not listen to Stephanie McMahon, in fact, a month back he teamed up with Ronda Rousey to take on the team of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. Since then, there has been no mention or incident to show us the aftermath of the storyline.

This week's RAW saw Angle not use this term once but twice. The first time during the opening segment of the show when he gave Mahal a chance to qualify for the MITB Ladder Match and not giving Reigns another chance to qualify.

If you missed that reference because of the crowd's positive reaction to the announcement, Angle used the term again when he included Kevin Owens in the match to replace Mahal.

This action from Angle was quite surprising and really didn't continue with the storyline. A man who defied The Authority about a month back is suddenly seen using terms that The Authority uses to justify its actions. This being done without any build to it seemed very misfitting to the entire scenario.

#4 Zero build for Women's Title challenge

In an interview, Nia Jax interrupted Ronda Rousey and Charlotte's fun by challenging Ronda Rousey to a match at Money In The Bank.

This challenge was strange for three reasons. Firstly for the sheer fact that it was the Champion challenging the challenger. Jax said that she has an obligatory title match defense at MITB and she wants to challenge Rousey.

Secondly, when Jax asked Rousey if she could say that she has been the RAW Women's Champion, Rousey replied saying that she hoped she could at some time in the future to which Jax replied saying that there was no time like the present and challenged her.

This entire scene played out quite unconvincingly as Rousey even stated that there are other women wrestlers who deserve this spot. Rousey herself didn't seem very interested in challenging for the title.

The third reason why this entire segment seemed strange was the part in the end in which all three wrestlers, Jax, Rousey, and Charlotte walked off like BFFs walking out of a bar.

There was no sense of competition between either of the two wrestlers involved. Neither of them wanted to show the other who the more dominating competitor was.

This entire scenario was confusing. Yes, the names involved make the match a must watch to see how it pans out, but WWE should do more to make the match more intriguing.

#3 The tag team match with poor booking

A lose-lose kind of situation
A lose-lose kind of situation

This was a sight to watch. Drew McIntyre standing toe to toe with Braun Strowman. Many people may be waiting for the two of them to square off against each other someday for the Universal Title. However, this could be the only point from this match that the fans could take home with a smile.

The match shouldn't have happened for the simple reason that either side couldn't afford to lose. While McIntyre and Ziggler make a dominating team and will someday contest for the RAW Tag Team Titles, Balor and Strowman have both qualified for the MITB ladder match that will take place next month.

Balor losing rather unconvincingly when he has a shot at winning the MITB Ladder Match is something that could have been easily avoided. Strowman could have laid Balor out flat after Balor mistakenly attacked Strowman.

If this had been done, it would have built their feud to the MITB match and could have saved Balor the embarrassing path to being pinned of a weak move.

#2 Including Lashley's sisters this week as well

Learning about vertigo from Zayn's doctor
Learning about vertigo from Zayn's doctor

Sami Zayn made his way out and stated that a case of vertigo is the reason behind him losing matches.

The said case of vertigo is the result of Lashley's delayed vertical suplex. Zayn also had a doctor's note to explain his condition. In addition to this, Zayn said that Lashley wanted to be him.

Zayn also went on to say that he had contacted Lashley's sisters on Facebook and that they will be present on RAW next week because Lashley lied about them and he has something to hide.

For those of you who don't remember, Renee Young conducted an exclusive interview with Lashley last week in which he opened up about his sisters.

The interview as a whole is one that should have been forgotten about. Instead, WWE is extending its significance. Unless there is a very strong play out from this angle, the WWE Universe is going to lose interest in Bobby Lashley.

#1 No Bobby Lashley near the title picture

Is WWE wasting his return?
Is WWE wasting his return?

On this week episode, we saw Lashley failing to cement his place in the MITB Ladder Match because of an outside interference by Sami Zayn.

Since his return, Lashley has been lost in the overcrowded main roster of RAW. The Superstars like Kevin Owens and Bobby Roode, who made their RAW appearances after the Superstar Shake-up alongside him have managed to found a way close to the Universal Title picture as they will compete in the MITB Ladder Match.

It seems like WWE have squandered the chance to give the WWE Universe great clashes between this man and many other huge names on the roster.

With his loss tonight on RAW, Lashley will be feuding with Sami Zayn in a storyline involving his sisters. As previously mentioned, that storyline shouldn't have been extended to this week's episode.

Lashley could have been put into the Intercontinental Title picture at the very least. Or he could have feuded with strongly built men like Strowman.

Instead, he will feud with Zayn which in itself is surprising because both of them haven't had the same build in WWE.
