5 things that shouldn't have happened on RAW - 7th May, 2018

The WWE made quite a decent comeback after a sub-par Backlash over the weekend. The show had matches to determine who would be contesting in the Money In The Bank match later in June.

All the qualifying matches were entertaining and gave us all something worth watching.

The twist at the end of the show brought out something refreshing and made fans go home on a good note.

While the high of the show was fans watching Finn Balor qualify for the MITB match, there were a few instances or bookings that shouldn't have happened or could be done in a better way.

#5 Kevin Owens jobbing

Kevin Owens has been on a losing streak
Kevin Owens has been on a losing streak

Since the time Owens made the jump to RAW, he has had nothing going his way. He had to fight his best friend for a spot on the roster and hasn't won a single match since his jump over to the red brand.

After being demolished by the team of Lashley and Strowman last night on Backlash, Owens was back to his losing ways on this week's episode of RAW. He was pitted against 'The Monster Among Men' in a qualifying match for the MITB briefcase.

While the opportunity given to him to qualify for the match is well received, he could never really beat Strowman in a one on one match. Not taking anything away from Strowman, he has rightfully earned that spot while Owens is left on a losing streak.

Hopefully, WWE holds a last chance match and we see this man making the impact he rightfully can.

#4 The Banks and Bailey paradox

Let them at it already!
Let them at it already!

In the women's MITB qualifying match, Sasha Banks, Ruby Riott and Ember Moon were fighting it out for a spot in the MITB ladder match.

During the match, the members of the Riott Squad ambushed Banks on the outside of the ring. While Banks was being beat down upon, Bailey ran down the ramp to aid her "friend".

Bailey did nullify the numbers game but Banks came up short on this occasion with Ember Moon picking up the win.

The WWE Universe is waiting for one of them to turn on the other. We have come across these moments many times since the Elimination Chamber Match involving the women's division.

There were numerous occasions for WWE to let them have a go at each other, but they haven't managed to pull the trigger on this angle.

With Bailey coming to the aid of Banks, expect Banks to reciprocate in the coming weeks, delaying the awaited rivalry to kick off.

#3 No match involving the hometown hero

The Long Island Iced-Z didn't perform in front of his home crowd

WWE always make sure that the hometown hero picks up a win in front of his fans. This time, however, Zach Ryder who is from Merrick New York, didn't get a chance to impress the people from his city.

Ryder was seen in a backstage segment with Kurt Angle but was soon interrupted by Jinder Mahal who wanted to be part of the qualifying triple threat match later in the night. Sadly, this was the only TV time Ryder got.

On the other hand, Mojo Rawley answered the IC Title open challenge held by Rollins. During the IC Title match and the time Rawley made his way to the ring, the crowd made sure that what they wanted was heard with the chants of "We want Ryder".

Had Ryder answered the challenge, this match could have easily been the most entertaining one for the crowd.

Ryder could have given the crowd a match to remember and Seth Rollins, after retaining the title, could have held Ryder's hand up high and left the ring allowing Ryder to embrace the crowd's love for him.

#2 Bobby Lashley's interview

A match involving Lashley would have been better
A match involving Lashley would have been better

Bobby Lashley didn't physically appear on the show after his dominating victory on Backlash. However, Renee Young did conduct an interview with Lashley.

During the interview, Lashley focused a lot on his sisters and his love for them. This did give us some insight into his personal life but why did it stress so much on his sisters and his love for them. Is this another cryptic message? Hopefully not.

While the television audience viewed this interview that didn't really strike the right chords, the audience in attendance was treated to a dark match featuring the Authors Of Pain and a team of local talents.

It would have been better to watch Lashley in action making a mark and proving that he deserves a spot in the MITB title match. Facing Zayn in a singles match and winning could have been a better way of utilizing Lashley.

#1 No major tag team titles contenders

No build for the tag team titles
No buildup for the tag-team titles

The Deletor of Worlds dominated in a match against the team of Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel. The only excitement during this match was to watch real-life brothers Dallas and Wyatt square off against each other. The Deletor of Worlds made quick work of what left of the Miztourage on RAW.

The RAW Tag Team Champions look strong as ever with no real teams looking at challenging them.

RAW really did end up on the short end when it comes to tag teams. But there is no clear build of tag teams that can give the champions a run for their money.

Now with Zayn and Owens out of the race for the MITB briefcase, maybe they can be the next contenders for the tag team titles.

The two of them would really flourish as singles competitors but with the RAW roster stacked up with so many singles performers and almost no tag teams, "Kami" could quite easily build a rivalry with the current champions.
