Kane is the brother of Undertaker. Lita nearly married Edge. Hornswoggle is the son of Vince McMahon.

These are just a few of the kayfabe relationships that WWE sold us through its storylines. With the boom of the internet and the strong presence of dirt sheets, such kayfabe relationships are hard to build during this era.

What provided the base for building such storylines, the thing that blurred the lines between reality and kayfabe, was WWE’s ability to hide the real life relationships that existed between wrestlers.

Kane and Undertaker are not related to each other in real life, but a good portion of the WWE fans still believe that they are brothers. Similarly, Bo Dallas and Bray Wyatt are real life brothers, but in the kayfabe world, they are not related.

WWE is open to admitting certain relationships, but still likes to hide others just for the sake of keeping kayfabe alive on paper – even though it’s probably dead thanks to the internet.
