#3 Not needing authority figures

What is it with The WWE Universe and authority figures? It's understandable for fans to have a dislike for authority figures, especially if they are heels, but they simultaneously fail to understand the importance of them to the overall product. In fact, it seems like they fail to understand the very basis of storytelling and that every great hero needs some kind of powerful villain to overcome.
And what better villain to overcome than an authority figure that abuses his or her power and makes the babyfaces life a living hell? At least that way, it gives the overall product an organic overriding story and also creates a situation where fans can wait for the eventual pay off of the figure being overthrown.
Of course, it doesn't always work to perfection and the case could be made that WWE relies on this tactic a little too much at times, but that doesn't mean it needs to be eliminated entirely. In the end, authority figures, good or bad, are a crucial part of the overall product and without them, WWE would just be spinning their wheels.
