We are closing in on the end of 2017 now and it's fair to say that the year — which started so promisingly — didn't live up the expectations of the WWE Universe. Things have stagnated and even regressed since WrestleMania 33 and the subsequent Superstar Shakeup.

While the likes of AJ Styles have been as good as ever, the prominent rise of Jinder Mahal as WWE Champion and the staleness of Brock Lesnar as WWE Universal Champion means that fans have grown disillusioned with the product yet again. But, all hope is not lost yet.

There are still two months left in 2017 and if the WWE plays its cards right, it could the company for a brilliant 2018 as well as a fond outlook to the end of the current year. So, without any further ado, here is our list of 5 things the WWE can do in the last two months to make 2017 awesome:

#5 Have a proper Shield reunion

Time for a proper reunion
Time for a proper reunion

The Shield reunion proved to be one of the bright sparks in the buildup to WWE TLC 2017 but with Roman Reigns being sidelined with viral meningitis, we never got to see the beloved trio wrestle together officially.

Now, while Kurt Angle did an admirable job filling in, the WWE must ensure that there is a proper reunion of Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and Seth Rollins so as to end the year on a high.

#4 Stop wasting Finn Balor

Balor needs to be given a real chance
Balor needs to be given a real chance

Finn Balor showed just how good he is when he faced off against AJ Styles at WWE TLC 2017 and the crowd really got behind him. He definitely has the potential to be the biggest babyface on the roster if only given the chance.

Unfortunately, the WWE has screwed things up significantly since then by having him job out to Kane of all people. Now, with the Big Red Machine preoccupied with Braun Strowman, it's time to give Finn a real shot at proving himself — something he hasn't gotten since he was injured last year.

#3 Change the Survivor Series match card

Who the hell actually wants to see this?
Who the hell actually wants to see this?

To say that the response to the WWE Survivor Series match card has been underwhelming would be a massive understatement. There are some really boring matches on offer and it seems like a B-grade pay per view rather than one of the traditional Big Four shows that the WWE puts on every year.

Last year had Goldberg shocking the world against Brock Lesnar and while nothing this year can come close to that, the company will still need to step up their game and introduce something for the fans to get excited about.

#2 The return of Triple H

It's time to play the game
It's time to play The Game

Once Survivor Series is done and dusted, we move on to the road to the Royal Rumble and the subsequent road to Wrestlemania 34. It's around this time that Triple H makes his much-anticipated return to the ring every year. With the lack of interest in WWE programming these days, perhaps it's time to push forward The Game's return by a few months.

He's already been on the WWE's ongoing UK and South American tours and The King of Kings would inject some much-needed enthusiasm back to WWE TV on a weekly basis.

#1 Make AJ Styles the WWE Champion

Yes, please
Yes, please

Jinder Mahal is not working as WWE Champion. AJ Styles is the best wrestler in the WWE. So, take the most valuable belt in the company off the glorified jobber and put it on the best wrestler.

The WWE Championship has lost its importance in Jinder's possession and AJ is the man to bring it back to its former glory.
