5 Things WWE could have done with Damien Sandow

WWE had some great options

Damien Sandow was one of those unlucky superstars that got the axe during WWE’s latest Black Friday. Sandow, despite being a huge fan favorite, and despite flourishing in every goal that WWE gave him, could not find a place in the weekly television and was eventually released by WWE. To get the record straight, Sandow is not going to have any trouble finding bookings.

He is already booked for a plethora of shows in the independent circuit and he will continue to get more as he walks forward. But none of them will be equal to the platform that WWE provides. This fact urges us to take an alternative path and think about all the possibilities that WWE could have done with this talented performer.

#5 A member of Social outcasts

Having Sandow wouldn’t have hurt

The Social Outcasts might not be one of the highly regarded stables in the main roster. This is because they are essentially a group of jobbers that are put together. Despite this fact, the Social Outcasts actually get some solid television time unlike what Damien Sandow used to get. Considering the comedic timing that Sandow brings into the table, his addition to the stable would’ve been excellent.

With the likes of Bo Dallas, Heath Slater, Sandow and Curtis Axel, the stable would have been funnier and at the same time, it would have allowed Sandow to be in the television even if it was pretty low in the card according to his standards.

#4 New exclusive championship

I>U title perhaps

Exclusive championships are something that does the trick when someone is in need of some spotlight. Back in ECW, Taz came up with the FTW championship and though it started out as a joke, the title turned into an integral part of the promotion’s history. Similarly, WWE would have given Sandow some sort of championship like this so that it would be a gimmick for him.

This way, Sandow would have had a reason to stay on television and at the same time, his feuds would have had some backstory even if he was randomly booked with some mid carder. Unfortunately for Sandow, this did not happen.

#3 Making him the leader of Vaudevillains

Sandow would have been a great leader

If we take a trip back in time, Sandow had a scholar gimmick which would have fit in perfectly with the Vaudevillains. The promotion of the Vaudevillains was something that surprised everyone and most of the fans has concluded that the team would drop down in the relevance chart once the title challenge comes to an end.

This assumption could turn out to be true as the team has already lost a good portion of its steam. However, if they were introduced as a stable with Sandow as the leader, the interest level would’ve been much higher. They would have got an extra layer of mileage on the main roster, unlike the current situation.

#2 Sending him back to NXT

NXT was a great destination

NXT is a place where wrestlers get to re-brand themselves. It would be an insult to say that NXT is a developmental circuit as it has names like Shinsuke Nakamura, Samoa Joe, Austin Aries, Finn Balor and much more. As WWE had nothing to do with Sandow on the main roster, they should’ve sent him down to NXT, where he would’ve been a main event talent.

Sandow would have had the chance to work with all the big names mentioned above and the NXT crowd would have accepted him with open hands. Even if WWE had no plans of having Sandow in the main roster, WWE could have kept Sandow in NXT and elevate the talent there.

#1 Letting him be the body double of another superstar

The stunt double run was awesome

Before Sandow went into the abyss of irrelevance, he was the body double of The Miz. The spell he did was nothing short of epic and the fact that most of his antics were improvised shows how much talent Sandow had as an entertainer. WWE did pull the plug on the right time as far as Miz was concerned, but they could’ve had Sandow play body double to some other superstar.

He was so good in it that he deserved another run with it. Sandow would’ve stayed relevant with another body double run and at the same time, his presence would’ve been entertaining in the otherwise boring episodes of Monday Night Raw.
