5 things WWE's Vince McMahon weirdly dislikes

Vince McMahon, the chairman of the board. The head honcho of the WWE.

For decades, McMahon has shaped his company from just one of several independent territories to the biggest wrestling business in the United States, then North America, and now the world.

Over the years, McMahon has worked with thousands of stars, many of whom have become close personal friends with the boss. In the 1980s, McMahon and Hulk Hogan forged a wrestling empire together

In the 1990s, McMahon and Stone Cold Steve Austin helped bring the company to (in many fans' view) the greatest it had ever been: the Attitude Era.

Today, McMahon has worked with stars like John Cena, Roman Reigns, and Randy Orton to bring the company to its most profitable ever state. But for such a savvy businessman, there are plenty of strange and bizarre things he cannot stand, with many for no good reason.

Here are five things Vince McMahon dislikes, and why he loathes them.

#5 Belts

The WWE has had plenty of titles over the company's decades.

From the WWE Championship, which debuted in 1963 with Buddy Rogers, to the Intercontinental Championship which appeared with Pat Patterson, to modern titles such as the Universal Championship, which debuted just two years ago, there have been dozens of titles in the WWE.

But that's the thing: according to McMahon, these are titles, not belts, and should be referred to as such.

The commentators therefore have to make a special effort to refer to a reign as a championship, or a title, but never as a simple belt that can be worn by anyone.

As McMahon once said:

"You can buy a belt at Wall-Mart pal"

#4 Tournaments

This one seems a bit backwards, with the King of the Ring being one of the WWE's most iconic events, but Vince McMahon reportedly hates the idea of a tournament.

Whilst facts are unclear why, it is reportedly because of WrestleMania 4 in 1988, which featured a massive tournament bracket, that saw 'Macho Man' Randy Savage win the vacant WWF Championship in the finals against Ted DiBiase.

However, the show underperformed, delivering well below the lofty standards set by WrestleMania 3, and The Showcase of the Immortals has never featured another tournament on one night ever again.

The last King of the Ring pay per view took place in 2002, and whilst there have been 4 tournaments since (2006, 2008, 2010, 2015), it seems the company remains hesitant to use it again.

#3 Pronouns

For those of you who may have slept through their English classes, a pronoun is a word that can be used instead of someone's name, for ease and convenience (he said this, she did that, I will go, etc).

But according to Mick Foley, McMahon despises pronouns being used on WWE TV, insisting that all commentators call wrestlers by their names, an accepted abbreviation of that name, or by some kind of established nickname.

In his 2010 book, 'Countdown to Lockdown', the Hardcore legend says that this has left many commentators who have used a pronoun reeling, as they get a verbal battering in their headsets from the chairman of the board.

Hopefully, the offending commentators have learned their lessons, even if the lack of pronouns can lead to some very awkward moments behind the commentary desk.

#2 Burritos

This isn't hating on McMahon, but it's more of just a hilarious story of a man not knowing what's under his nose.

According to a report, a segment was proposed where the Big Show would eat a spiked burrito, leading the giant to pass out in the ring.

When told about the plan, an irate McMahon replied:

"Burrito?! Who the hell knows what a burrito is?!"

After seeing every hand in the room raised, Vince could only reply:

"Well where the hell have I been?!"

Now, McMahon may have been forgiven for his abject lack of knowledge on Mexican cuisine, if the report didn't also say how for years McMahon's secretary would give him a steak wrap each day, which Vince would eat, never once questioning what exactly he was putting into his mouth.

#1 Sneezing

Bless you Vince McMahon
Bless you Vince McMahon

We all sneeze, that's just a fact of life, and whilst the process of sneezing isn't exactly glamorous, at least it is over quickly.

But for Vince McMahon, sneezing clearly doesn't go fast enough, as the boss reportedly hates the body function, because it shows a lack of control.

When Paul Heyman appeared on 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin's podcast, the former ECW owner recalled meeting McMahon, and how the chairman of the board reacted.

According to Heyman, The Beast's Advocate was pitching an idea, when Vince sneezed, and instantly zoned out of the pitch as Heyman continued.

After a few moments lost in his own internal struggle, McMahon snapped back to reality, apologising for sneezing, saying:

"I sneezed…I should be better than that… I should be able to control that"

No doubt Vince would want to control his sneezing like he controls sports entertainment.
