WWE Hell in a Cell 2017: 5 things you missed from Shane McMahon vs. Kevin Owens

A l
A lot happened during the main event

Kevin Owens and Shane McMahon put their bodies on the line at Hell in a Cell. It was certainly an amazing way to christen the brand-new Little Caesars Arena for WWE action.

A lot went down during this monumental match-up and some things might have passed you by on first viewing. Therefore, here's a list of five things you might have missed if you were too invested in the Hell in a Cell match between KO and Shane O' Mac to catch all the little details they included.

#5 The crash pad

How ha
How hard was the fall to take?

It couldn't have been an easy task to leap off the Hell in a Cell structure, but Shane McMahon has done it before. This time he was leaping onto Kevin Owens, but the results were very much the same as the last time he tried this spot at WrestleMania 32.

McMahon's intended target moved out of the way at the last moment, and he took the bump by himself. But at least they were able to hide the crash pad differently this time around.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that there was a crash pad waiting for the Commissioner of SmackDown Live at Hell in a Cell. WWE just did a better job at hiding it than they did at WrestleMania in his match against The Undertaker.

The bump probably still hurt a lot, which is understandable. However, it's good to know that if McMahon is going to take that kind of risk, WWE will do everything possible to ensure his safety.

#4 Shane McMahon's kids didn't seem too worried

It's all sm
It's all smiles from the McMahon kids

When your dad is in a match risking his life for the enjoyment of fans, it might be hard to keep a smile on your face. But it seemed to be no problem for Shane McMahon's kids as they were captured at ringside with huge grins during the main event.

It's curious WWE cameras didn't show them again after that point. McMahon's sons might not have been told they were supposed to look worried, or possibly they just got caught up in the moment. But for whatever reason, those faces don't look like they belonged to children who were about to watch their father tempt death during a Hell in a Cell match.

It also might be possible that these kids are just seasoned enough to know this was just another day at the office for their father.

#3 Kevin Owens was thinking something dangerous

What was
What was Kevin Owens planning?

There was a moment when Shane McMahon was laying on an announce table and Owens decided to climb the cell. You could tell there was something destructive floating in KO's brain, but Owens didn't seize the moment. Instead, Shane McMahon woke up and climbed the cell to join The Prizefighter.

It's untelling what KO was considering but it had to be dangerous. Perhaps he was thinking about executing a senton bomb off the top of the cell or a moonsault which would have wrecked both McMahon and Owens in the process.

It's a good thing Owens didn't take a leap because it might have spelt a much earlier and unplanned ending to this epic match.

#2 Thumbs up from Shane-O

Is
Is he ready to go again?

After all was said and done, Shane McMahon needed to be stretchered away. But before he made his final exit, McMahon gave fans a sign he was going to be okay.

The 47-year-old was able to hold a thumbs up as high as he could muster while he was secured to the stretcher. It's a good thing he was able to get his hand free to give fans this universal sign that he's alright because by the looks of things he didn't appear to be unscathed.

Who knows how long it will be until Shane McMahon takes part in another match. But let's hope this is the last time we see him take this kind of risk for his own sake.

#1 Long-term ramifications

What are
What are the long-term results of this brutal match?

When Superstars take part in a match with this amount of violence there will be longterm effects due to the abuse they put their bodies through.

Many past Superstars from The Dynamite Kid to Edge have commented about the long-term damage pro wrestlers put their bodies through every time they step in the ring. That damage is only multiplied in a match with these stakes included.

Sami Zayn turning heel to shock the WWE Universe might just be the tip of the iceberg in a sense because the physical damage felt by KO and Shane-O can't be taken lightly either.

There are only so many times you can put your body through this kind of punishment until it starts to catch up with you. WWE needs to realize what kind of long-term potential they have with a guy like Kevin Owens, and although it's fun to watch him go all out in a match like this, it needs to be a much more of a sporadic occurrence.

Let's also hope Shane McMahon will rethink the next time he's offered a spot in a dangerous match. Because if things would have turned out differently it could have resulted in a much more tragic set of circumstances.
